Just walking round the area transports you back over 100 years. Seeing how the canals, river, roads, railways, tram, footpaths, bridges, apartments, warehouses & park area all intersect is wonderful. A mix of iron, stone, metal, brick, water and more. Lovely to have a mooch on a sunny afternoon. A few bars & restaurants to sit and watch the world go by.

If you are interested in industrial history, this is a fantastic area to see how the logistics of the canal and railways meet in a superb transport of the industrial revolution way. Then again if your not interested in history, I doubt very much you will not be left in awe of the way you can see the beauty of the way it has been built well before the use modern building machinery.

Really nice little corner of Manchester, with a ship canal running through it, lot's of very colourful canal boats, remnants of Industrial-era architecture and train and tram lines running above it. It is is just to the southwest of the really tall Hilton tower (the tallest building in the city) so is very easy to find. There are quite a few pubs and restaurants around and if you there in the spring you can usually spot quite a few Canadian geese with their fledglings in tow !!!

With more great pubs / restaurants popping up here, it is getting busier. Canal and the open space is always a great retreat from the hustle and bustle in city center (only 10 minutes walk away!)

One of the most beautiful city districts in the UK. The Victorian iron arches, Industrial viaducts and sleepy canals make this a fascinating and relaxing urban realm. The Trains and trams passing overhead are a reminder you are still within a bustling city, however Castlefield maintains its own relaxing charm.
