So we booked a table mid afternoon on Saturday for 9:30 we arrived at 9:25 to be told table was not ready so wait in the bar, waited for 15 mins before asking if we wanted drinks, we were shown to the table and this is when it really went wrong, waiting ages to give our order - duck parfait to share and it was very good ! Then over 1 hour wait for mains, the restaurant was not busy and we asked a few times where our food was and we got told the chef was ill so it will be a while ?? The food was very good when it came, the service is some of the worst I have seen for a long time, we came on recommendation but the service is terrible which is a shame as the food is very good !! Also the front door was open all night and it was cold, we asked a few times to close it but it never happened and it was cold - I then spoke to the manager who gave me 2 free drinks and told me he had to go into the kitchen so was sorry he was not front of house.. Not sure i would risk such bad service when the resturant is opposite San Carlo and amazing service ! Oh and wait you have to go to the bar to pay the bill because the card machine doesn't work at tables ?? This is not worth £18 a main course !!!

We have walked past 47 King Street West many times and just thought it was a Tea Room!!! How wrong we were, this is a seriously great restaurant. We went there on a Friday night and on arrival we were told we had the table all night so if we wanted a drink before the meal that's OK, makes a change to know you're not going to be rushed. We ordered two cocktails that were really good. On Fridays they have live music which lifted the whole mood of the restaurant, on this occasion they had a brilliant young crooner belting out classic Rat Pack tracks.

Starters, Pan Fried Scollops and Chicken Liver & Foie Gras Parfait, both great dishes, if being really critical the chorizo cake with the scollops did overpower the scollops slightly.

Mains, Rack of Lamb and Oven Baked Veal, Veal was really good but the star dish was the Lamb, and I would happily go back to the restaurant tonight and have the lamb again.

Desserts, Shared a Raspberry Creme Brûlée; which honestly did not need but enjoyed.

Having the live music and knowing we were not being rushed made such a difference, we took our time and once the meal was finished we ordered extra drinks so we could continue to enjoy the crooner; such a change from many Manchester restaurants where you feel under pressure to pay and vacate the table ASAP.

Staff were great and a really nice touch was the Manager/Owner coming round to talk to us and other tables.

Overall I cannot wait to go back

We ate here of the MFDF special offer menu, 3 courses plus a glass of wine for £17.95. The food was lovely, beautifully seasoned, portion size just right. Service was outstanding, our waitress was very accommodating and helpful. Would highly recommend, we will eat here again.

Went here with colleague for lunch. Booked a table ahead and they rang back to confirm, which is always a good sign, in terms of customer service. We had a nice white wine, and then the Thai salmon and ribeye steak as mains. Service was prompt. Creme brûlée and fruit crumble for deserts were excellent. Quite noisy in restaurant, but not so intrusive that you had to shout! Waitress was Ok but did not seem that familiar with house specialities.

Me, my wife and friends eat here on a regular basis. The Moss Nook used to be a favourite restaurant around the Manchester area, unfortunately it closed after probably 30 years. Any way, we have been desperate to find a replacement restaurant for quality food and service etc. and we have with 47 King Street. We love it and cannot criticize in any way.
