“expensive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2009

Booked this via laterooms and they were supposed to take the money straight away, they never did then the day before I travelled left 2 snotty answerphone messages threatening to let my room go if didnt ring and pay. Never rang and thankfully they had not let the room go, emailed to complain and never even got a reply. Expensive for what it is, very small room when they open the sofa bed no room to get round it without injuring yourself. Not very easy to locate when not familiar with the area.

We stayed in this hotel as i was graduating in Bridgewater Hall the following morning. This was a special occasion for us and we were delighted with the hotel. The rooms are extremely clean and spacious and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. We have not stayed in this area before and were pleasantly surprised with how centrally located this hotle was for all of the local attractions. Whilst we did look at other hotels in the location, we were both delighted with our final choice and couldn't fault this hotel. The breakfast and dining areas were beautiful and the selection of foods available was extremely impressive. We have stayed at many hotels, however rarely do we find a hotel that we simply couldn't fault. I would definetely recommend and definiteley return!!

Stayed here for the weekend, and was very pleased overall. The location is good, on the corner of Chinatown just a short walk from Oxford Road train station, which links to the Airport. Rooms are exactly what you'd expect from a hotel chain such as this and are clean, comfortable and quiet. Service is friendly and good. The full breakfast offers lots of choice and is impressive. Drinks at the bar are kind of expensive but overall I'd recommend this hotel - it's very convenient and does exactly what it says on the tin.

Although located centrally, and close to all attractions, at least the very few that there are in Manchester, it was not particularly comfortable or enjoyable. The room was large and spacious, however unremarkable in decoration and appeal. It was a basic room with all the accoutrements, however really unattractively decorated. It was clean and quiet however. If you are looking for an interesting place to stay that will stimulate your senses, this is not the place to go.

The hotel staff was helpful for the most part, but very unfriendly and I don't think any of the employees cracked a smile the entire time I was there. One gentleman seemed bothered every time I asked him something. He was not very friendly at all.

There was a nice small gym however, and free internet which is always welcome. I didn't eat any food at the hotel so I can't judge that, however the hotel is very close to several Chinese restaurants as it is right next to ChinaTown.

We stayed for a weekend at the Novotel and got a really good deal by using Tesco Reward Vouchers as payment. The check in process was quick and efficient. The room was spacious and contained tea/coffeee making facilities, a small fridge, television and a small safe. The buffet breakfast was varied and of a high quality. The staff were all extremely helpful and courteous
There is underground parking adjacent to the hotel which cost £18 per day. We parked at the long stay car park at Picadilly Railway Station which is about 20 minutes walk from the hotel. This costs just £4 for 24 hours (or any part thereof) on Saturday and Sunday .
As other reviwers have said the Novotel is in an excellent position for exploring Manchester. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to Picadilly Gardens and the city centre shops. The Manchester Art Gallery is just a 5 minute walk away. The hotel is in the centre of Chinatown.Despite being in the city centre there was no disturbance from traffic or other noise.
The hotel provides an excellent base to explore Manchester and has good deals available if you can book well in advance

Stayed here 3 weeks out of 4 on business and for the money I would not go anywhere else in Manchester. I have recently also stayed at the Copthorne (aparently 4 star?) and Jurys and neither are anywher as good as te Novotel.

Dont get me wrong its not all and all luxury but it is very practical, a fridge, safe and sofa in your room are all benefits to me.

The evening meals are so so and overpriced but why eat here when you can go out into China Town and eat like a king. The breakfast is satisfactory no smoked salmon but what do you expect.

The staff are all very pleasant, dont stay anywere else if you are on a budget.

Spent a night at the Novotel in Manchester with my other partner and my son and we had a really great time...the room was lovely and the bathroom was very clean. The staff were very friendly and the location was great especially if you fancy a chinese meal! Would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.
