Rooms were very basic, but spotless.....what more do you need when just using the room for a stop over. Car park next door was very convenient and very cheap. Excellent location, within walking distance to shops / pubs / nightlife. Would definately book this hotel again. Staff were extremely polite and helpful (Abrar in particular). Excellent choice for a trip to Manchester :)

The whole hotel was lovely. The staff where very friendly and attentive. The car park price was a bit high, but that is the only downfall. The room was extremely clean and tidy, and so was the bathroom.

I booked this room for myself and husband, we had stayed around the corner on Blackfriars street before, but having read reviews, this TL was or appeared exceptional. We travelled all the way from Lincolnshire on the train and from Piccadilly Station was approx 15 mins walk. For a night it just cost us £20 a night total, plus £7 odd for breakfast.

We picked this TL because of the reviews and the nearness to the MEN Arena or phones 4U as it is called now i believe. From the Hotel it is less than a minute and about 4 minutes to get to Victoria station just over the road. We went to see Depeche Mode at the Arena and the hotel was buzzing with people, never noisy, but enjoying the night.

Now for the review of the hotel...

It is in a great place, so near to Arndale and restaurants, pubs and shops and two stations. First impressions was this TL was fairly new, you could tell, and the added fact it has been refurbished.
We checked in quickly with reception, they do give you an option of the fast check in by computer, but i am old school.

I actually asked for a top floor so i did not get noise from above (light sleeper) and it faced the car park which you can park in next door, quite big actually, £3 normally, if something going on at the arena then £6. We virtually faced the arena.

In the room on the right was the bathroom which looked futuristic in plastic, only a tiny bar of hand soap, basin and walk in shower, all worked well and good decoration, no marks or scratches. Nice big mirror and generally plenty of good lighting in lovely lamp shades.

The bed has got to be in the same league as the new premier inn beds, very comfy and great pillows and duvet, quiet high the beds were as well.

Clean carpets, a medium sized LG TV which worked very well with an excellent picture, more lights, a small radiator when turned up blasts out the heat. Even though we were on the top floor we were near the main road, traffic could be heard, but it did not alter our good sleeping pattern. There was also a desk which supplied tea bags, milk and coffee and kettle. At the end of the desk was a bottle opener, i thought this was great if you brought beer with you.
There was a window obviously, and even though at a great height, you could open it, and it did have a safety catch for safety.
The room was tastefully decorated and smelt fresh, no odours.

What i liked were the closures on the doors, no door banging from the hotel room to the corridors, the lift which we were two doors away from us.

To get in and out of the travelodge is with a plastic credit card type of key, very easy to use.

We did use the bar as arrived a bit early, bar prices were reasonable, and the cheese and onion crisps that were hand made were gorgeous.

We paid for breakfast on arrival, it consisted of cereals, yogurts, bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, tomatoes, bread for toast, an assortment of jams, croissants, fresh juices, tea/coffee/cappochino etc. All the tables were cleaned all the time and the food was hot and was always checked by staff.
In fact it was nice to eat in there, nice table and chairs and kiddie chairs, also for relaxing leather corner seats. We liked the breakfast very much and certainly filled that hole.

All the staff were very curtious, had a smile and seemed to like working there, it was not loud, it was very nice.

I would like to add a comment as a positive not a negative, i think the hotel would benefit a litter bin outside and a cigarette bin, i noticed there was no where for butts to go except down the drain, maybe if the manager reads this review, it would be beneficial.

Thank you very much for a lovely stay, and having only paid £20 for two people a night, the travelodge may always be basic, but it gives other hotels in the area a run for their money.

I could not find fault with anything, well done and when coming to Manchester again will visit again.

Room Tip: I choose room 611 on the top floor, very quiet.

This hotel is literally 2 mins away from the arena ( trinity way entrance )

Most people will use this hotel for overnight stays after attending the arena so for that this is perfect.

recently refurbished and the beds are comfy, the facilities are basic but adequate . the staff very polite and helpful. Wide selection available at the bar . We used the snack bar menu and were pleasantly suprised

already booked on for every event we are visiting the Arena for

Room Tip: Rooms are locally allocated an i am unaware if they can be requested
