“Good value for money.”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

I attended a Hen party in Manchester on Saturday 3rd August and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in the tpwn centre. The location was perfect, just behind the Print Works. I got a great deal, bed and breakfast for £88. The room was clean and comfortable with a good size bathroom and a large shower cubicle. It was good to have air conditioning as it was a hot day. I was sharing the room with a friend and thought there would be 2 single beds.Hhowever, there was 1 double bed and 1 sofa bed which were both really comfortable, I had a great nights sleep. The room 120 faced on to the side street and was very quiet. Checking in was quick and easy and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast was continental or cooked, not a bad selection. The only down side was the sofa bed extended right up to the desk which meant you were unable to sit on the chair. The lighting in the room was poor which I found when trying to take my contacts lenses out and putting make on. Saying that I can understand the subdued lighting will be cheaper to run in a hotel of this size. Still enjoyed my stay.

Room Tip: Room 120 very quiet.

Stayed here overnight while visiting Manchester for the cricket. We were very pleased by the comfort, cleanliness and helpfulnes of the staff. The beds are comfortable and the rooms well equipped for overnight stays. The bathrooms are modern and have good showers. The included breakfast was more or less what you would expect from.a. budget hotel - ok if you stick to cereal toast etc- but all in all this is a good value hotel for a short stay.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter.

Given that we got a double room and hot breakfast for £55 through Booking.com, it's not surprising that we found this hotel to be tremendous value. And that is despite an inauspicious start, as we arrived slightly frazzled having managed to get ourselves entangled in Manchester's poorly signposted one way system. Things don't improve on arrival, as the hotel is sited in an area that is a mixture of run down buildings and others that are being thrown up next to it. Moreover, whilst we knew there was no on site parking, it comes as a surprise that you cannot even drive up to it to unload.
From then on, however, things improved quickly and markedly. Check in was quick and efficient, as is checkout, and there is a choice of nearby parking, ranging from the very cheap, but less secure, to our choice at Printworks - £15 for 24 hours.
We had a1st floor room, which on a Tuesday night, was quiet inside and out. The rooms are pleasantly spacious, and simply, but very tastefully decorated. The bed was big and comfortable, and like the whole room was modern and very clean. These features were repeated in the bathroom, which had an invitingly large, if not overpowerful, shower.
The breakfast was no token gesture either, with the usual cold options complementing the hot offering. Yes, the latter was restricted in choice, but it was fresh and properly hot. Indeed, there is no reason why anybody should start the day hungry after staying at this hotel. I could imagine, however, that queues could easily form at busier times.
Its location is ideal for exploring the city: transport options are plentiful, but really the compactness of the city centre means that it is easy to walk to wherever you want to go. Eating out is easy, because the hotel is in the Northern Quarter, which boasts a host of eateries of various types, price ranges and ethnicities - many are literally round the corner from the hotel.
Definitely a place I'd consider staying at again if ever I'm back in Manchester.

Room Tip: Check out what your view will be, and likelihood of street noise during weekends and university term...

Stayed here with wife and 14 month child for 4 days. If you are driving to hotel it is difficult to find and it doesn't help that you can't drive up to hotel to unload your bags but car park was close enough to hotel. We used Printworks car park. Check in was painless. Room was spacious and had cot we ordered for baby. Comfy bed, great shower and nice view so our little son thought. Breakfast each morning was good. Good selection of everything and things were replenished as they ran out. Tip: weekends it does pay to arrive early as it gets very busy and you do have to wait for table.
Overall a good stay and we would stay again if we were back in Manchester

The hotel is new and the fixtures and fittings done to a reasonable standard it just lacks a bit of nicety for the price you pay.

Location is very central and easy access from victoria, shudhill, metro or free bus.

Breakfast was particularly poor. Cheap sausages, watery scrambled eggs, hard beans, no bacon, cheap salty bread, tiny croissants, only one kind of milk and worst of all just tetley tea. Also finding a table for breakfast was almost impossible but when you do it won't be clean, bits of other people's half eaten breakfast everywhere.

The staff were all rushed off their feet which they shouldn't be blamed for, although they were quite rude at checkout through stress.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floors facing away from the city towards Ancoats as this hotel is right...

I am sorry that you feel that breakfast experience was a poor standard during your stay as we have worked hard to improve the quality of the items served and you can see from the recent reviews that we have received positive feedback. It is disappointing that you found the team to be rude at checkout, this is unacceptable regardless of business levels and I apologise that you received less than excellent service. I wish to thank you for taking the time to feedback on the hotel and want to assure you and fellow travellers that this is far from our usual service standard. If you wish to contact me directly to discuss further please feel free to email michelle.lonsdale@hixmanchester.com

Ultra modern room in this high rise hotel . Very comfortable beds.Parking is fine at one of the many private car parks to the east but probably not for safe enough to leave a new luxury brand overnight . The side of the hotel leads onto trendy street with quirky bars and restaurants and a short walk to the centre of the City .

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor to get good views of the City
