We spent one night in a family room while resting from a day trip. Yes it's a little bit tired and there is a slight funny smell. The shower really needed a good scrub and the doors needed oiling BUT for the price we paid we would STILL return if we were in the area. The breakfast was really good and you could have as much as you wanted. The bed was comfortable and we all slept well despite there being a busy road outside (no more noise from that than from my husbands snoring)! The staff were friendly enough and helpful. This is a budget hotel and you shouldn't expect too much but if you don't mind a few minor issues then you'll be ok here.

I was in Manchester with my son visiting the Universities. We wanted to book a twin room somewhere cheap and convenient - Première Lodge was £109 and add breakfast. Diamond Lodge was £45 with breakfast included (a great breakfast by the way). It's minutes from the city centre. What a find. I hope he goes to Manchester so my wife and I can stay here whenever we visit.

Myself and my sister stayed here for two nights as we were going to see 1D at the Ethiad. I had read reviews on other sites and to be honest, was dreading what we would find when we got there. No need! The hotel is very basic and there is absolutely no point going if you normally stay in swankier hotels.

We found the staff were pleasant, the room was clean - lovely hot shower, comfy beds and very spacious overall. There was plenty of tea/coffee in the room and the TV had a good selection of channels. The room was facing a main road but didn't really notice any overly loud traffic and I had read other moans about guest noise in the night but none of this either. I would imagine on match days or stag/hen parties, it can get a little noisy!

The breakfast was lovely - hot and lots of choice and the staff were very prompt at replenishing everything.

Really handy for the stadium and central Manchester. Could do with a bit of a spruce up but wouldn't let that put me off staying again.

We stayed here last night for a hotel close to the Ethiad stadium. Upon arrival loads of parking spaces hotel looks bright and cheerful lovely flowers and seats outside.
2 receptionists come bar men, friendly helpful and gave us all the information regarding somewhere to eat close by and taxis to the stadium. We were in room 102 on the ground floor at the end of the corridor .
Upon entering the room we noticed a musky smell and the toilet smelt very strongly of wee.
A 10 yr old was holding her nose and not impressed. i flushed the loo and opened the window .
We had a family room 1 double i single.
The double is against the wall the single sort of placed on an angle over the far side. We moved the single next to the double so made one huge bed....
Theres a long desk with a kettle and a few milks tea and coffee.
Ask for a private taxi card .
We got a taxi to the stadium at £6.00 and were told were to go to call them after the concert. I rang and was told to walk to the Candy shop and they send either a taxi or a mini bus to take you back to the hotel..Brilliant.
We got back to the hotel and in the reception theres a hot drinks machine we all got a lovely hot chocci.
Good comfy clean beds we all had a good nights sleep.
Breakfast is plentiful cereals breads and all hot foods getting replenished constantly.
No table service it is all self service .
Checkout is 11am which is good.
I never complain as long as i get clean and good..BUT
Hotel needs a really good clean up, lick of paint and new decor . They could do so much with this place ..
All in all a good place for the dogs or the stadium.
I personally wouldnt stay again but for the 1 night it done its job ..
Just the smell was pretty off putting a toilet duck would work wonders
...

Room Tip: 102 good large family room

Good standard hotel for a really good price. I was really impressed with the customer service, and the very helpful reception staff. The room was a good size, with all the essentials you require for an overnight stay. The breakfast was excellent - lots of choice, and all good. Not the most salubrious part of Manchester - but very convenient for ETIHAD stadium ( £5 by taxi) and not far from the city centre (£8 by taxi). Would recommend this to anyone wanting good value accommodation :)

as taking the daughter to a one direction concert at the Etihad stadium over the weekend was looking for somewhere that was close by , (approx 10 mins by taxi or just under a hour to walk )
we checked in approx bout one o'clock very speedy and quick ,receptionist explained where the room was what time breakfast was , asked if was attending concert so didnt explain regarding dinner , bar , on way to room , it looking clean , light and airy , ...

we just dumped our cases and went for a walk, , was surprised to see the train station , and a bus stop more or less right outside the hotel , unfortunately trains do not drop off or pick up at Sundays as this would of been very useful getting from Piccadilly station , so with the help of a map and guide planned our day out according , carried on up to Subway for a sarnie and drink

On return realized it was a double bed didn't complain even though i had booked a twin room
the room was quite even though it was opposite the Belle Vue stadium

walking back in day was fine as for night time dont think would of been wandering around , ,
caught bus up to the Etihad with one over excited teenager around five oclock

At the Etihad once come out it was chaos , only found bus 216 which was a night bus but they all seemed to go to Piccadilly walked with the crowd flow , managed to stumble across a bus stop after half a hour for a 53 bus that stopped right outside the lodge ,
After a good night sleep in one of the comfiest beds i slept in , did hear some noise but was so knackered after the concert could of slept for England .
The breakfast was plenty , juices , tea/coffee cereals , fruit etc , sausages, bacon, scrambled egg, tomatoes, beans , mushrooms ,
looking closer the area could of done with a scrub and brush with crumbs all on the floor in the dining room , and some furniture looking worn i places ,
65.00 paid including breakfast but massive sigh outside saying 52.00 on Saturdays but already booked this through late rooms .com .. saying all that excellent value , great location would definitely use again

Three of us stayed overnight in order to explore Manchester and visit the Belle Vue Greyhounds in the evening. Check-in was faultless and rooms were ready on our arrival in the afternoon. A short taxi journey (£8) and we were soon in the centre of Manchester enjoying the afternoon. In the evening we returned for the greyhounds which is immediately across the road. Some other reviews mention it's "noisy all night long" but this is hard to understand as the last race is around 10.30 and the stadium closes immediately after this (the hotel bar closes at 11 so you just have enough time for a night cap). I enjoyed an excellent nights sleep and heard no noise throughout the night. The breakfast in the morning was very good (considering the total cost oft the room was £52), everything you'd expect - sausages, beans, bacon, eggs, cereals. In terms of value for money it really is difficult to find any negatives (possible the Rolos in the sweet machine were overpriced at 75p?)
All in all a great stay in a great budget hotel. I'll definitely be visiting again!
