No parking. Rooms very basic but the bed was comfy. Quilt cover had rip in it and bathroom pod could do with a few repairs. Would only stay again as a last resort as other places do it so much better.

Spent 4 nights here last week whilst working in the city.
The public areas & most of the room was modern clean & tidy. All the staff I spoke to were helpful & polite. Breakfast was fine; nice selection & tasted fine. Big downside was the room that was as welcoming as an East German secret police interrogation cell. Bed was comfy but the room just felt bland & done on the cheap. I mean, would it have killed them to fit a wardrobe door? The door on the shower & lav pod thing didn't close & the extractor fan kept coming on all night.
I have stayed in worse places for sure though & if getting a low cost room is the top of your list then give it a try.

Room Tip: Get one at the back for less road noise

This is the first hotel room in my life I have checked into in which the previous occupant’s bowel contents were still lurking in the toilet bowl. The bar of soap for the bathroom turned up the next day.

But the real problem was the noise level. Even though my room was a few stories up and double-glazed, the noise from Portland Street was the worst I’ve ever experienced in 30 years and meant I had lousy sleep for the few nights I was there. It’s not just the buses and lorries from 6am, but the Manchester wildlife staggering home drunk throughout the night, shouting and falling in the gutter. (OK – the falling in the gutter was fairly soundless.) The walls felt solid but the noise from neighbouring televisions and bathrooms was quite loud.

On the up side, there are loads of restaurants just outside the front door, including some good ones, and it’s a short walk from Lass O’Gowrie – a great pub.

For free WiFi MacDonalds is 50yards away on the corner (don’t pay Ibis rates). For a good breakfast at half the Ibis price, Lavazza on the opposite corner (£2.99 at Sept 2012.) The breakfast in the hotel is bad value.

I have to say I would definitely not stay here again. There are other hotels off side streets and/or with good sound insulation not far away. For me, if you can’t get a good night’s sleep – everything else is a side-issue.

Room Tip: Insist on a room at the back which does not overlook (i.e. overhear) Portland Street.

With my job I have to stay in quite a few hotels and b/b. this is the 1st ibis I have stopped in - for this type of city hotel it is better than the rest!

A 5 night stay with a huge comfortable bed that didn't give me back ache - this is a small miracle in itself! The bathroom only had a shower which is my preference but it was also a large wet room so no knocking your elbows trying to have a wash!! And the shower was of high pressure, clean and as hot as you like. LuSh.
It was very noisy outside if you had the window open but closing it shut out everything. It was really warm in the room even though not hot outdoors but the air con was really good.
Staff were pleasant and helpful and security conscious - reassuring! My only gripe would be that the breakfast wasn't included in the price it was an extra £8 - and the vegi version was minimal - W'spoons round the corner £2.99 can't beat that!
Over all though would definitely stop there again!

Staff were helpful, even while overwhelmed with customers. There were not enough of them for the number of people. Lobby of hotel is spotless and the rooms, although very basics are clean and just what you want from a budget hotel. Haven't tasted the breakfast yet, but it. I 7.5 pounds. And so seems quite reasonable for a city where people seem to be spending money like it is going out of fashion!

I flew into Manchester Airport but was only staying in the city for a night. The Ibis is a great central location, easy to get to.

The rooms are as you would expect - everything was basic, but clean. You get what you pay for, no surprises, which is good. I would definitely stay again, if all I needed was a central location, and a reliably clean room with friendly staff.

Not much you can say about this hotel, but it is good value, well located and clean.

Pay for the breakfast - its good and there is plenty of it - all you can eat.

My only criticism is the broadband provider for the internet access. Its Orange France - not even Organge UK. Why not have something british that we can all access.
