We have eaten here over six times every year for the past 7 years. We try to see all the Exchange Theatre productions and choose to eat in The Round because you can guarantee getting your food and the bill before the performance begins. In the past we have tried other places, but it wasn't worth the anxiety caused by slow service or waiters not bringing the bill promptly. I haven't met any of the chefs (past or present) personally, but over the years the food has varied from poor to excellent. When we first ate here the menus were themed to the play running at the time and this resulted in some very peculiar meals (as well as good ones). However, the themed menus seem to have stopped (I presume the present chef vetoed the practice) and the quality of the food is so much better; it's delicious and beautifully presented. At £17.95 for 2 courses & and £19.95 for 3 courses, it's very good value. We usually choose the cheapest bottle of wine (red or white) and have always been happy with the quality. All the staff are polite and friendly. Give it a try-even if you aren't going to a performance.
