Owner description: The Museum of Science and Industry sits in the heart of Manchester, the world's first industrial city. It houses the world's oldest surviving passenger railway station and the world's first railway warehouse from 1830, which are located at the end of the museum site. On a visit to the museum, you will see amazing objects and learn about the men and women whose ideas changed the world forever. Daily demonstrations bring the museum's world class collection of textile and industrial machinery to life. There are interactive exhibits to explore and a regular programme of changing exhibitions to enjoy.

As a childminder I visit lots of free museums etc. This is my favourite and brings back lots of happy childhood memories. Lots of things to do and see and educational and fun to boot.

My first vist to MOSI and thoroughly enjoyed it, and it was free, they suggest a £3 donation. Very interesting and educational, we went on the mini steam train ride and we were more excited than the kids on there. Well worth a visit, plently of toilets and seats around the muse.
We ate at the warehouse cafe we was very nice and reasonable.
There a free bus number 3 green metroshuttle that stopped right outside that goes to Victoria station, there's plenty car park spaces, only a couple of disabled spots outside.

If you are interested in electricity, engineering, wind power, gas, water etc; this is definitely a place for you. It is free admission and definitely worth a visit. Even if you are not interested in the science and technology stuff, just pay a visit and appreciate the evolution of science and technology by all the impressive models, including air craft and road transport collection.

The air & space part is great, loved the speedway bikes and stuff. Some of the planes they must have built inside the museum.
