Owner description: The Museum of Science and Industry sits in the heart of Manchester, the world's first industrial city. It houses the world's oldest surviving passenger railway station and the world's first railway warehouse from 1830, which are located at the end of the museum site. On a visit to the museum, you will see amazing objects and learn about the men and women whose ideas changed the world forever. Daily demonstrations bring the museum's world class collection of textile and industrial machinery to life. There are interactive exhibits to explore and a regular programme of changing exhibitions to enjoy.

This is more a tribute to the history of the region most notably the local textile industry but has many features, much of which a fully interactive. There's plenty there for kids to do so well worth a visit during the school holidays if you get the chance

The museum is quite big and stretches into several buildings. I particularly enjoyed the demonstration of early industrial weaving spinning equipment and the underground Manchester exhibition

Came here on Sat 27th October which coincided with the launch of their Science Festival. Great day out. Well worth the £3 donation

Whole family went during the Manchester Science Festival and had a great day out.
Listened to a Maths lecture (and stayed awake :)) by Matt Parker which was highly entertaining.
The children joined in a treasure hunt which was all about decoding different types of codes.
There were lots of other activities available and it runs over all of half term.

If you haven't been for a few years then you'll notice a few changes - I still find it amazing that it's all free.

Fantastic facility and family friendly.
