Owner description: The Museum of Science and Industry sits in the heart of Manchester, the world's first industrial city. It houses the world's oldest surviving passenger railway station and the world's first railway warehouse from 1830, which are located at the end of the museum site. On a visit to the museum, you will see amazing objects and learn about the men and women whose ideas changed the world forever. Daily demonstrations bring the museum's world class collection of textile and industrial machinery to life. There are interactive exhibits to explore and a regular programme of changing exhibitions to enjoy.

Great day out, kids loved it. There is something for everyone. Plenty of fun stuff for the kids and then lots of interesting exhibitions for older children and adults.
The children loved the air and space gallery especially.
It's was free as well! Which is great for us as homeschoolers as we don't get a lot for nothing!
We missed the 4D theatre as it was fully booked. But we plan on another trip early 2013 so we will definitely make sure we do it then.
Fun day, interesting and educational, will be returning time and time again!

Thank vwigs

I took my eighteen month old grandson to MOSI to fill a day's baysitting/childminding duties. I was gratified to find there was mush to entertain this lively lad including space to run out in the aircraft hall where the barriers around the exhibits were adequate without obstructing his low level view. A nice touch was the 'bring your own food ' dining eating area. The under five area of the 'Experiment' children's hand on area was well furnished and easily absorbed over an hour without noticing the time fly. Lift access was not available to all floors in all halls and even some of the ground floor entrances from the yard had a few steps to negotiate, so I guess mothers would find it difficult carrying child and buggy. The baby changing room was good enough, but the associated toilets involved four flights of steps. Lockers were a good idea, but down the same steps and I don't think they would take a buggy.

Brilliant. Really interesting, lots to see and marvel at. Amazing how they fit it all in and in a great location, easy to get to. Educational, but not boring.

The is a brilliant hands-on museum. I take my kids to the MSOI every time I visit Manchester as the educational value is great and the fact that it is hands on makes the experience more interesting. The 4D show is at a charge, but is definitely a must see.
