“Very hot”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2011

Stayed for one night in the middle of October and it was sweltering giving me a very bad night's sleep. There was a fan in the room but it was rubbish.

Other than that this place is fine, nothing special. I had a double room which was big enough for one person only with the bed pushed against the wall on one side.

Free (very fast) internet if you bring your own cable.

Room Tip: Free (very fast) internet if you bring your own cable.

I am sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with, I am surprised to hear the rooms were hot given the time of year, could you advise the room that you were staying in and I will have the fan checked for future guests. We do provide cables at the front desk if guests do not have one with them. This is a free service that is available.

I hope the heat does not put you off returning to us in the future.

What a great hotel, right in the middle of Manchester. Rooms are small but have everything you need for a short break. Most importantly it was spotless. Great staff as well. One to return to in the future.

i stayed here with my partner for one Saturday night. We were lucky to get accomodation due to the Manchester football derby and purposefully booked here to be near the Gay village and away from the football crowds. The rooms were small as advertised but suprisingly well contained and comfortable with every convenience needed such as a proper hairdryer, iron and ironing board, lovely spotless small bathroom with a stong power shower and Gilchrist and Soames bathroom products. We were on the 5th floor and had a view over a courtyard. It was a quiet room and a quiet landing. We didn't have breakfast but used the bar for a drink and it was fine. The staff were very helpful, friendly and polite.

I would highly recommend this for any couple who doesn't mind small rooms, and wants a quiet room to sleep in that is spotless and well equipped. Piccaddilly train station was a 5 minute walk and Canal St a 3 minute walk for all the gay bars, restaurants and nightlife. We are a straight couple and felt very comfortable and welcomed in this area.

Room Tip: 5th floor was great.

a lovely modern hotel, extremely clean, and very friendly staff. Put our luggage in storage as we were a bit early, all on reception were polite and helpful. Got a bit lost gettin there but that was because we totally missed it and walked past, but once we found it , was easy getting to town and back. Room was spacious, tea & coffee facilities provided (and biscuits), lovely and clean, and all staff greeted us with a good morning/afternoon/evening. The bar staff were great, very chatty and made us feel at home. Everywhere was immaculate and clean. Had a big rip in our bedroom carpet, but didnt affect our experience. (it was under the bed). Breakfast was delicious, lots to choose from, staff were efficient in the morning, as it was very busy. really good price for our stay, we only stayed the one night to watch jessie j, staff rang a taxi for us. Would definitely stay here again. Beds and pillows were really comfortable, we slept very well.

The Days Hotel is not far from Manchester city centre on foot, tucked away just off the University campus (or UMIST, as was). It was initially difficult to locate the hotel, as it looked like student accommodation (I think there are some student blocks adjacent to the hotel). Once inside, I found myself in a modern reception area where I was efficiently checked in.

My first impression of the room was, again, student accommodation! It was pretty small - probably the smallest double hotelroom I have ever stayed in - and the furniture was basic, much in the style of Ibis/Travelodge/Premier Inn. However, the bed was nicely made up and the room provided everything you really need for a short stay. There was even a generous allocation of biscuits, including jammy dodgers!

The bathroom was also small, but was very contemporary and had a good-sized shower. Unfortunately, as soon as I got hot water in the shower, it went cold, even though I could get plenty of hot water in the washbasin. There was wall-mounted liquid soap (with which getting a lather was a major effort) but I didn't see any shampoos. The bathroom was immaculately clean, as was the bedroom.

The double bed was very comfortable and I would have had a good night's sleep had I not been woken up several times throughout the night by people talking loudly, shouting and arguing - I could hear this noise from the corridor, other rooms and from outside the hotel.

I paid £60 for a Friday night at the Days Hotel. My feeling is that this hotel is a touch over-priced for what I got, but is still cheap enough to attract the Friday-night revellers. So, while it is difficult to seriously criticise this very functional accommodation, I have to mark it down on price and clientele.
