“Great location, small room”
Reviewed March 30, 2011

The hotel has great location... just blocks from the City Center & really close to Picadilly Train Station.
We just stayed 2 days so the fact that the room was reaaaallly small didn't matter. I mean, you have everything (even ironing table) but using the space to its maximum... (it's thought for business people).
Although it didn't have breakfast included you had could make coffee & tea and they left you cookies and milk... that was a good detail. The people that work at the reception was really nice.

I stayed in this hotel last week. On arriving after a long day traveling the rude guy at the desk said my card had been declined when I had more than enough money on. I was annoyed because I hadn't much cash on me but paid anyway. So if you book have extra cash prepared. When we arrived in the room we couldn't believe we had just paid £159 for 2 nights. The bedding was dirty and not very attractive. The room had mould covered though out the bathroom ceiling and around the bedroom windows it was absolutely vile. I was tempted to walk out there and then but I had just paid maybe that's why they had pretended my card was declined so we couldn't leave. I went to have a shower and saw that there was a hair on the shower tile I so repulsed that the lazy cleaners couldn't be bothered to clean the tiles. The food I ordered was very greasy and inedible I was chewing on some salad and found a hair in my food. At £11 a meal I was fuming. Don't these people have standards they should be closed down. Oh and if you want sleep this hotel isn't a good choice they slam doors, running around corridors screaming not good when you have to be up at 6am. Worst hotel I've EVER stayed in! NEVER AGAIN!!!

I could hardly believe the praise of the previous reviews. I stayed here in March 2011, as a conference speaker, booked by the organisers. At least I was not paying the £78 myself but I shall refuse to allow anyone to book me there in future. The accomodation was, indeed, modern and clean but the room was tiny and cramped - laughingly called a double, but two occupants would have had to crawl over one another - with nowhere comfortable to sit. There was only a shower, though the hotel photos on the net suggest that a bath is the norm. The doors only close by crashing and rooms are so close together that it sounds as though they are slamming into your room. I could not get to sleep until the early hours and was awakened again before 6am. The only redeeming feature was the buffet breakfast.

- easy to book online and fast check-in
- helpful staff
- good location
- differences in the quality of rooms (new and old)
- renovated double rooms are nice, but small (especially the bed for 2)
- sounds can be heard since the walls are too thin
- breakfast - well-served, wide selection
- good value for money

For a Days I worried it'd be a little tired.
So wrong. As a hotelier I find mysef inspecting everything. The housekeeping Of the hotel is better then some 5*. the staff are all really good.

We were a group so we had all rooms together. Each room has it all irons too. We ate in the restaurant if your in a group do it its £10 for 3 course & the food really good quality no processed rubbish. The waiting staff couldn't have been more helpful.
Breakfast will cure any hangover.

Good location 10 mins walk from city or £4 taxi to bars :)

good location with cheap parking at weekends in the multi story across the road - easy walk into the city. Room was a good size with good fixtures and fittings and very clean. Breakfast was very good with buffet style all you can eat, every body catered for - the wife had salmon to start, followed by the full Monty! - I started healthy with fruit salad and then the full Monty!!! - good reception staff - very helpful - easy check in and out. Good sized bar and reasonable prices

Lovely clean hotel, no real frills, but we only paid £50, and it's within easy walking distance of all Picadilly, Portland Street and the Student Quarter, so ideal for the gig that we went to see at Manchester Academy.
Only problem with it is that they've scrimped a lot on space, and the walls are very thin, so I was woken up several times by other guests closing doors. Don't expect to get a lie-in, and you won't be disappointed!
