“Couldn't find much fault with this facility”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

We got the trans pennine express train service from Middlesbrough to the Manchester Airport in January 2013. The train stops within a covered area of the airport. You can use an escalator or lifts up directly into the terminal building. The Raddisson Blu is sign posted several times, it is impossible to get lost and it takes around 8 minutes to walk from the railway station to the Hotel entrance. This walk is all inside a covered and heated walkway.

Once at the hotel, check in was efficient and friendly. We were even given a lovely room at the rear of the hotel, overlooking the airport grounds and runway. This room was in the Maritime Suite, which we found tastefully decorated, clean, spacious and very comfortable.

We had dinner in the Bar, before having a nice Burger in the Runway Bar. I agree that the prices are slightly higher than normal, however I feel this facility is really excellent and it is a small price to pay for the convenience and comfort of not messing about with cars, buses and parking issues.

The following morning we walked in the covered walkway into terminal two which only took 5 minutes. Thumbs up to this hotel, would definitely use again.

Amazingly we heard no noise from the airport as the glazing is so efficient.

Room Tip: 7th floor, maritime suite is really good. Ask for an airport view.

As we were going away for a month we didn't want to leave a car anywhere so we booked a taxi to this hotel the night before we travelled. The rates were very reasonable, the food good and a couple of minutes walk from T2. The only problem was breakfast was included but we were up too early for that.
I know this hotel quite well having stayed a few times before and using it as a photographic location for Antler luggage. There was no charge if we booked rooms for the models to stay but one girl from Texas emptied the mini-bar so costs mounted up! I always found the staff very helpful and professional. They are improving facilities at the moment so the experience should be even better next time we stay.

Stopped here overnight before our flight . The rooms were a good size , with the biggest and most comfortable bed ever. The hotel staff were very helpful and there was a great breakfast included in the price with last minute.com. [Take your paperwork however to prove breakfast is included ]. After checking in we went down to the bar for drinks which had a lovely atmosphere but the drinks were quite expensive. Exactly what you would expect though from a hotel with a captive market . Checking out and arriving into the airport was so easy as it is connected directly into the airport via the walk way . So once you are in the hotel it is so easy to get to Terminal 1 and 2 . Would definitely stay here again

The lasting impression my wife & I have of this hotel is that of the the most friendly & efficient staff we encountered over our recent 2-night stay. Our upgraded 'Business Class' room on the 8th floor was spacious, clean & comfortable but I was glad that I took my folding arm chair with me! Why don't hotels provide 2 armchairs when 2 people are sharing a room?
The dining room was pleasant, with wide ranging views, but the food could have been better. I also expected the car-parking charge to have been included in the overall rate. It was £12 per night extra.
However, we would certainly use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Take a folding armchair.

Stayed here for 2 nights and although it's a lovely hotel with very nice decor etc it feels a bit impersonal.
The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, clean etc, certainly no complaints there.
We had breakfast in the restaurant and i was a little unimpressed with the service. When we arrived we were told to 'sit anywhere on the left' rather than being shown to a table as i expected. Ok, not the end of the world but there were no clean tables, i then had to go and find staff and ask them to clear & prepare a table for us. The food WAS good. But again inattentive staff, i was looking around for someone for quite a while when eventually a manager noticed and sent someone over, all i wanted was a coffee, something that had they shown us to a table could of been offered straight away along with the clean table. Hope i'm not being too picky.
Handy having the car park right outside even if it is a little pricey £12 overnight for guests, i suppose it is on an airport, but when you've paid £110 for the night an extra £12 for parking seems a little harsh.
But it is a nice hotel and i would use it again, in fact we've already booked to stay for a couple of nights in June.
Extremely handy for the airport which is why we picked it.

Great for T2 and still only 5 minutes walking (undercover) from train station & another 5 minutes to T1. Great staff - especially reception/porters, bar with a lovely atmosphere (but take note glass of wine = £9) didn't try the restaurant but it looked very nice. Good comfy beds & pillows, no noise disturbance. Would definitely return.

Room Tip: If you are frightened of heights ask for a low floor - from the lift to the bedrooms you have to cro...

We have stayed here 3 times over recent years, all the night before flying to Orlando. Arrival and check in perfect and a good early check in too at 2pm. Afternoon spent in the pool with the kids is great. Restaurants not very good in our opinion. Overpriced food and drinks and not great quality. We drove round to the other side of the airport to The Romper Inn for our meal and that was far better. An easy walk down to Terminal 2 the next morning for check in was great and even better to be able to then walk back to the hotel to get showered and changed before a really nice breakfast watching the planes take off. Booked to stay here again this year already,

Room Tip: Book a runway view room if possible
