Stopped here for New Year break. rooms good-standard Marriot. Hotel generally an excellent warehouse conversion. New Year's Dance - so-so, try getting a decent DJ. Overall the stay was pleasant apart from the check in and check out. Both times we were kept waiting by inefficient staff who had lost our booking or couldn't get thing sorted out. Perhaps this was the fault of the chain's pathetic booking system but it really shouldn't happen in a hotel of this standard. I did write to the manager to give him the oppotunity of replying but he didn't bother. So in lieu of a reasonable apology I'm putting it here for you all to see!

We stayed here for the Crawley v Man U game.

I booked 3 rooms via Priceline, bidding just £70, so when the Marriott came up I knew I'd done well.

We weren't wrong either.....

The hotel is an old mill / warehouse so has wood beams throughout and has low ceilings giving it great character.

The staff are ALL helpful without exception, and we received some of the best customer service we have received anywhere.

The room was a standard double, and very cosy and comfortable, with all you'd expect from a 4* hotel. The shower was the only comedy issue as the ceilings are so low, only someone under 5'2" would fit underneath it.

Bar staff and food were also great. Drinks were usual hotel prices.

Tip if your driving would be skip the valet parking and either use the NCP next door at £8.70 for 24 hours. Or if you arrive after 6pm park on the road. Great if you get there Saturday night as Sunday is free all day.

10 minute taxi to Old Trafford.
10 minute walk back from the tram station.

All in all a great hotel with bags of character and fantastic staff.

Good location with really helpful staff - nothing is too much trouble valet parking Is a good idea - just ask the staff and they will park your car.

Rooms are large and reasonably appointed. Food was OK - typical of this type of hotel.

Overall a good hotel close to the centre of Manchester.

I always love to stay at Marriott hotels worldwide as "usually" you know what youre going to get, a clean, well run hotel with similar standards of decor and staff and a certain quality. This was no exception. Our room was lovely, Ahmed and Heidi on reception were very accomodating and made our stay special as regular customers of the chain. The room was clean, well apointed and quirky with beams and exposed brickwork. The bathrooms spotless. The sleep quality excellent and even though there were a few football fans about not a squeak was heard after dark. The only criticism was the breakfast didnt come up to scratch, cold, slow and in poor supply making it slightly disjointed and the dining area a little untidy with dirty tables laying for too long.. Otherwise this did not spoil our enjoyment.

Converted from two mid 19th century warehouses the V & A offers a unique hotel experience in Manchester. Check in was handled in an exemplary way by receptionist Heidi Dean (as was check out by the same lady) and I was soon in room 337, a spacious two double bed room overlooking the road in front of the hotel. The V&A would win no prizes for room views; the River Irwell forms the rear boundary of the property, an although clean, is not very inspiring. The bed was very comfortable, and I required only the smallest of the 4 pillows supplied to get a good night's sleep.

Breakfast was the usual buffet, with an excellent choice of hot and cold foods, juices etc. Staff encountered throughout the hotel were invariably friendly and welcoming, and I would certainly recommend the V&A for visitors to Manchester.

My sole complaint would be about the valet parking; although efficient, it costs £14 per night. I was a little surprised, after using my car on the first evening of a three night stay, to find it parked for the remainder of the stay on a parking place outside the hotel reception, (rather than in the undercover valet parking area that I expected) I experienced no problems, but would have done if the weather had been icy/snowy and I had been forced to de-ice my car before departing.

Stayed here with a friend at New Years Eve after a night out in Manchester. It's a really comfy hotel with pleasant and helpful staff. Lifts are a little small and claustrophobic but it is a converted mill. I have stayed here on numerous occasions and each time the rooms have had low beamed ceilings and exposed brick which is a nice feature although the view over the river at the back of the hotel is not the best.
Drinks are expensive as in all Marriotts as is the internet and onsite parking - If you are staying on a sat eve/sun or a bank holiday suggest that you park on the roadside which is free during these periods. Breakfasts are great, but there is no onsite pool, leisure facilities or a business lounge which is a great shame other than that its a really nice hotel to stay in.

This hotel has been converted from an old mill and has big rooms and beds. It's located virtually next door to Granada TV studios and within easy walking distance from Deansgate Sreet and probably 10 minutes from the Arndale shopping centre and the city centre.

The breakfasts are good in line with Marriott standardfare, with plenty of choice and with a nice dining setting. Parking is a tad expensive but includes valet service and for peace of mind is within a secure compound.

The lounge area is has also a nice setting with red bare brick walls and complementary furniture and decor, but doesnt have much atmosphere.
