TOTALLY overpriced rubbish.
I have just returned from a very disappointing stay in the Jurys Inn, Manchester. I stayed for one night, sharing with two girl friends I don't see often for a much-anticipated weekend away. The weekend and company were great, but we all came away feeling totally ripped off by the standard of the accommodation considering we paid £210 including breakfast. The room was small (and admittedly clean) and slightly dated feeling, but despite being booked as a triple, only two sets of towels, cups and glasses were provided. The pillows were the thinnest I have ever encountered and even with the extra ones provided, we were stuck with five pillows of blanket thickness between us.
NO extras were offered by way of toilettries, fridge in the room etc. The lighting was appalling, meaning the area by the 'wardrobe' (open rail) was practically pitch black and putting on make-up impossible. Breakfast was adequate at best, but with the greatest degree of self-service possible and the atmosphere of a motorway cafe. The bar was similarly grim in the evening when we ventured down for a nightcap - and left rapidly.
Some of the hotel guests were noisy in the early hours and we were greeted by a small pool of vomit just outside the lift door at noon on our arrival on our floor.
ALL of the above (bar the vomit) would be forgivable in a Travelodge or similar, but to pay over £200 for the privilage was extortion. Tellingly no-one asked if we'd a pleasant stay when we checked out, almost as though the staff were embarrassed by their offering.
