1847 is a vegetarian bistro located just slightly away from Piccadilly more-or-less opposite the wonderful art gallery. Had a lovely lunch here, nicely relaxed with the service just right. Not too fast and not too slow. We each had two courses and the portions sizes were perfect for lunch. Good choice of dishes without there being too many. We both thought the food was tasty and not too heavy or rich.
The waitress was helpful in pointing out that if we had the lunch time special offer (a main plus a glass of wine) it was cheaper than if you had the main course on its own. We could use this offer even though we had starters and coffees. If you were super hungry you'd need to order side dishes too and there's no bread served automatically. That's all fine for lunch when you don't want to be stuffed.
You automatically get a glass of water which is topped up during your meal. I'd have preferred mine to be a little cooler as it was tepid - I like water to be tap cold, not fridge cold. But that's a minor grumble.
As a veggie it is a treat to have choice and even more so to have a choice of meals not all involving masses of cheese (I love cheese, but know that my food does not have to be dominated by it). I chose the beetroot pancake for starters and aubergine snitzel for main. Both lovely.
