My husband and I went to Cafe Rouge in Didsbury for a quick bite prior to the cinema, this was mistake My husband's Ceasar salad was very poor just lettuce and crutons with a drizzle of dressing my starter or goats cheese was also accompany by yesterday salad.
My main of fishcakes was shockingly bad they appear to have been cooked in a deep fat fryer they managed to be dry and greasy at the same time.

Just returned from a lovely lunch in Cafe Rouge, Didsbury
Yummy Boulliabaise, really tasty.
Excellent service by a charming waiter from Prague (sounded quite French).
Toilets a bit of a trek upstairs but a disabled?baby change at ground floor level.
Observed children welcomed and given balloons.

You are always assured of consistent standards of food in Cafe Rouge. Pleasant staff and on the day we visited the sun was glorious. It was good to see the outside tables being utilised but we would have loved to have been able to enjoy our food out there. The tables outside are very small, apparently only suitable for enjoying a drink. However the glass frontage does open up so we chose a very comfortable table for four near the open space.

Two of us loved the double baked cheese souffle. Very light. The salad was accompanied by a very tasty dressing.

Even better value when using the Tesco reward vouchers.

Very poor surly servers who take order grumpily and serve food and thats it. Very poor value for money and look horrified if you want to use a high life card

We have been to the Didsbury branch of Cafe Rouge a couple of times. Service is friendly, if a bit slow. Food is sub-standard by French criteria, but par for northern England (ugh). Most dishes were bland, not hot enough or were not properly cooked. There are better places nearby (The Jade Garden, if you fancy Chinese - probably the best neighbourhood establishment). Prices are generally high in view of the mediocre quality of the food, though if you partake of their special deals you can get by 'cheaply and not-so-cheerfully'. Wines not bad. But overall, not really a place worth bothering about.
