This was my first visit to the Exchanged Manchester.
We also ate in the Round Restaurant (don't Bother).
It was nice walking around the theatre as all the props were in full view, this enabled us to take some pictures.
We were there to see Sweeny Todd and it was a smashing performance.
I'd go again but as above stay clear of the restaurant.

Thank wigglede

Cannot agree more with the previous two reviews. Sweeney Todd is an excellent play and well worth watching. The theatre is a small and very intimate place. Friendly too.

I went to see Sweeney Todd for the Saturday matinee. It was an outstanding performance by all members of the cast.
I was impressed by the story telling, the acting, the singing, the humour and above all the scariness!
I have not been to the theatre for a number of years and just loved the intimacy of the theatre.
I will not leave it so long next time!

Beg, borrow or steal, but whatever you do, get a ticket and go and see Sweeney Todd at the Manchester Royal Exchange. If you've never been to the MRE before you will be blown away by the magnificence of the building and then you will be absoulutely captivated by the production. I have seen Sweeney Todd twice before in the past, but nothing comes even near to matching the standard of this production. The cast work fantasically well together and the voices are so strong. They need to be because Sondheim presents the performers with some really challenging music. This production is in conjunction with West Yorkshire Playhouse and Welsh National Opera. David Birrell gives an outstanding performance as does Gillian Bevan. The audience leapt to their feet to give a standing ovation at the end. It is of course, unspeakably gruesome but oddly funny. This is an unforgettable theatrical experience. Don't miss it!
