Typical high street - slightly disappointing for such a large city in the UK. Friendly people. But shops are just your average high street shops.

Market Street... Don't really know what to think of it. It's just a street like any other in the city centre really with all the main chain shops, lots and lots of people, many a busker (some of which are very talented, others who fancy themselves as performers but really are diabolical) and a fair few annoying charity collectors. Don't get me wrong, I don't normally mind street fundraisers, but the ones around Market Street and Piccadilly Gardens are in a league of their own. They are the persistent, don't take no for an answer and follow you down the street until you get really angry type!! It is an amazing achievement if you can get from one end of the street to the other without any interaction with them!

Other than that, Market Street is just your usual city centre street, the same as any other.

Nothing unique - best seen as one side of the exterior of the Arndale Centre.
Some interesting buskers at the weekend.

Since Market Street was revamped after the IRA Bombing all the old traditional shops have either disappeared on moved inside the horrible Arndale Centre. There is nothing tradional anymore as all of the old buildings have gone; there aren't even any decent cafes

Noisy, grubby area with High Street named stores.Give it a miss. There are much nicer shopping areas in the City. Popular with younger age groups. Unimpressive.
