Owner description: Manchester Arena, managed and operated by SMG Europe, is one of the busiest venues in the world and the largest indoor arena in Europe. Since opening in 1995, the Arena has hosted the biggest names in live entertainment including U2, The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Pavarotti and the record-breaking 2010/2011 residency by local comedian Peter Kay. In addition to live music, we've also staged some of the biggest events in the UK sporting calendar including several 2002 Commonwealth Games' events, the 2012 Olympic basketball warm-up match between team USA and GB, the 2008 FINA World Swimming Championships and international boxing bouts by Mike Tyson, David Haye, Joe Calzaghe and local champions Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan. We've also played a key part in Manchester's rich musical heritage with historic shows by local bands Take That, Oasis, Elbow, New Order, James, Happy Mondays, The Charlatans, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, M People, Doves, The Inspiral Carpets, The Verve, Simply Red and The Courteeners. Attracting over one million visitors each year, the 21,000 capacity Arena is a former winner of the industry's prestigious International Venue of the Year award.

Excellent venue for concerts and other shows. As with any venue it's always best to do your homework and book a seat that suits you best.If you are standing or siting on the main floor in front of the stage then you might get a restricted view. Most of the seats around the sides of the main floor offer excellent views but some can be abit to far away because the place is that big.The sound is never a problem because its amazing.Right in the heart of Manchester next to Victoria train station. You can get there easily by bus, train or tram. Will be coming back here for many years.

“Great concert venue”

This venue is very conveniently located next to the train station, city centre and lots of parking. I've seen many bands here over the years.

“BEST PLACES FOR CONCERTS OR SHOWS”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

The Manchester Evening News Arena is a great place to watch your fav groups, artists or even sporting events such as Wrestling,Boxing and exhibitions.
The Arena is massive and very well organised by the staff and stewards. The Arena is attached to Manchester Victoria train station,so No problems with getting there with bus service stopping virtually outside.
I have been to see several events at the arena and must say I have enjoyed every minute.Manchester is full of fairly priced hotels, so make a couple of days of your visit, I'm sure you'll LOVE IT.

“Never again”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

Treated like criminals, frisked at the entrance, for a childrens concert, had to walk miles to get in or out. If you suffer from reduced mobility or vertigo, stay away!

“TNA impact tour”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

the arena was good though we had to stay in the cold and snow before we were allowed in and again had to wait while they finished setting up the ring. once in i was impressed though we could have been warned about the stairs and there being only a bit of handrail.
