“Ideal overnight stay & parking combo”
Reviewed November 25, 2009

As with other guests we stayed overnight before an early flight to the USA. We booked the hotel as we needed somewhere to stay that included parking during our 2 week holiday, and the Hilton provides just that.

We were checking in for our flight the night before, and in the morning there are free regular transfers to the airport. You simply complete the necessary forms and hand in your car keys the night before, and away you go. The car was back at the hotel when we returned 2 weeks later.

Our room was spacious and very clean, much what you would expect for this type of hotel. There was an unstocked cooler, which I prefer incase the hotel tries to charge you for something missing such as £3 toblerone!! A small kettle and cups are provided, but they scrimped on tea and coffee providing enough for 1 cup each! There was only 1 hot chocolate between 2!

We ventured into the restaurant, and it appeared clean and pleasing on the eye; the menu was not, however. Very very expensive. £6 for 2 mini muffins! Breakfasts were also expensive. Room service is extortionate, and I can't believe they can justify an additional fee to bring it to your room. It was close to £20 to have a small cooked breakfast brought to your room.

On our return, we had to phone from the terminal and the bus picked us up about 10 minutes later. It was unclear just where to get the return bus. There are multiple 'hotel bus pickup' points and non actually say for the Hilton.
Once you return, exit the airport and walk across the crossing. To your left you will see car hire offices. Continue walking forward and then turn left and walk behind them. Continue walking OUT OF THE CAR PARK. This is where you begin to think you've made a wrong turn. You will see a stand on the right for hotel bus pickups, and it's here where you'll get the bus. Other customers using this bus stop also found it difficult to locate.
You are then taken to a portacabin at the back of the hotel where our car was waiting for us. The driver was not communicative, but it was a good service.

In conclusion, an ideal hotel to stay at for that over night stay and parking combo prior to your holiday abroad. But take extra food with you if you want a cheap snack. There aren't nearby restaurants unless you drive out again.

I personally believe that it’s always a good idea to book into a hotel near the airport the night before an early morning flight; you arrive at the airport refreshed and calm rather than rushed and stresses. Most people staying at this hotel will be doing the same thing or have business at the airport (quite a few pilots and cabin staff stay here). If you have a car (or fancy a 20 minute train ride into Manchester Piccadilly each day) you could probably get a good deal on a longer stay and base yourself here as long as you don’t mind being surrounded by people who are just about to go on holiday.

The pick up from the train station and to the airport the next day were both excellent and free (although I think it’s nice to tip the driver and think of the good karma). The hotel itself is nice and modern, staff are friendly and rooms are a decent size. Our room had some weighing scales in it which I think is a nice touch; see how much you weigh before your holiday and contrast it to when you return. The hotel also offers use of internet terminals (for a fee) which are useful for double checking flight details, planning what you might want to do when you get to your ultimate destination or updating your social networking site with details on how much you just paid for a burger.

The price for food from the bar was almost laughably high but did actually taste really nice and at least you can console yourself with the fact you’ll be on holiday soon. I can’t think of any logical reason why food at airports is so much more costly than elsewhere other than the fact that it can be. I guess it’s the same with food from the Hilton group so combine both factors and prices go out of control. Another top holiday tip here would be to just go with the flow, don’t stress out and ruin your holiday. If you’re operating on a budget though it might be an idea to bring something to eat in with you or to pop over to the airport airside where I’m sure there’s a Burger King or similar where food will be less expensive.

On a Sunday evening this hotel had a good atmosphere with so many of the guests looking forward to taking off to warmer climes the next day. It is clearly a hotel of choice for the holidaymaker. The hotel is comfortable and certainly meets the needs of both leisure and business traveller. The rooms are not overly large but again for a one night stay who cares. What the restaurant lacks in ambience is certainly made up for in the quality and presentation of the food.
I can highly recommend the service we received from the business unit staff. Running a conference can be very hit and miss, but the business organiser who looked after us all day at this hotel was second to none..

We stayed overnight before an early flight. We booked the hotel as we needed somewhere to stay that offered parking.

Free transfer to the airport. We were checking in for our flight the night before, so the bus took us to the airport, returned to collect us, and then dropped us off again the next day. What great service.

Our room was fairly spacious and very clean, much what you would expect for this type of hotel.

We ate dinner in the restaurant, and it was very nice. Good choice for kids, and they get a free meal, so that was a bonus.

On our return, we had to phone from the terminal and the bus picked us up about 5 minutes later. We were taken to a portacabin at the back of the hotel where our car was waiting for us. No hassle great service, just what you need after a long overnight flight.

We stayed for one night at the Hilton before we travelled to America for our honeymoon. The stay was an extra suprise from my mum and dad and they also stayed the night. They booked us into a suite which was lovely. Nice and clean with a nice table etc.
We ate in the restaurant that evening and recieved champagne as it was our honeymoon - very nice touch! The food was superb! I wouldn't hesitate to stay again!

Stayed here before an early flight and used the park & fly facility. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Had no problems with room and even had to be upgraded as the requested room was not available. No problem with that!
Only issue would be is to have better directions printed on the booking form and make the entrance a bit easier to find. Nevertheless, would stay here again and again.
