Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport
Ranked #43 of 120 Hotels in Manchester
Reviewed April 2, 2009

I think my ratings say it all. This hotel is extremely . . . average. Which is to say there is nothing bad about the hotel. I stayed one night before flying out of Manchester Airport. This hotel was a good value. And I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay close to the airport without maxing out your credit card.

On the plus side, there was ample restaurant and bar/lounge space. Which is good because the hotel was quite crowded with travelers. The beer was cold and delivered quickly. And I was pleased to have a diverse food menu available at the bar. There's an Irish Pub too that I didn't patronize.

Not much to say about the room except it had a very odd toilet that only flushed on every other pull of the lever. It was strange but otherwise unremarkable.

Last point, for those looking to use the shuttle service. Leave early. Leave early. Leave early. The hotel was very crowded and there was a loooong queue for the shuttle.

While I was comfortable and well fed, I think I'll pony up some more cash and stay at the Radisson SAS. You can take the moving walkway directly into terminal 2. And if you're in a hurry to catch a flight, that's very valuable.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 1 night due to any early flight next morning. We were collected from the airport by the shuttle bus,no problems in checking in filled in the form asking for an early morn call 6am.Only one lift and it must have taken us 5 mins walkin to our room.Room clean and basic ,only 1 bath and hand towel between 2 ,never come across that before!Decided to set my mobile 15mins earlier than wake up call due to the distance we had to trail our luggage, just as well i am still waiting for that wake up call!!! I think i will stay at another hotel next time.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Manchester airport the night before a very early flight on a one night's accommodation package including car parking. Check in was smooth, the staff were friendly. The room was perfectly fine, clean, comfortable, and included tea and coffee etc. We cannot comment on the food service as we did not eat dinner and left at 3.30am for our flight. The transfer was prompt - we were advised to allow half an hour but when we turned up at reception at 3.30am a driver appeared at once and we were very quickly at the terminal.
On return we had only a five minute wait for a transfer and again the reception staff were friendly and helpful, helping us load our luggage into our car.
The price for the package was very reasonable value and we would definitely stay there again if we were flying out of Manchester.

We stayed at this hotel both before our trip away and on our return. You can call the hotel for your transfer free from the airport phones situated around the arrivals hall of all terminals. However we did have to wait 45mins on one occasion due to a 'communication error' between the 2 transfer drivers. The Driver was very apologetic and assisted us with our luggage.

Check in on both occasions was quick, details where given about the diffrent dining facilities and they also had a range of offers for Priority Club Members. As we were booked room only we were informed that breakfast usually costs £15 but if you book on arrival then it is reduced to only £9. A ported is available to assist you to your room should you require.

The room featured all the standard equipment, double bed, TV, desk and seperate table with chair. the bathroom had a bath with overhead shower and was clean. The bed itself was very comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided as well as a bottle of both still and sparkling water. As is becoming more frequent the mini bar was empty but could be filled on request.

We had a small snack in the hotel bar which was priced at approx £6 for a baguette. A bottle of house wine could be bought for £13. In the evening we opted for the more expensive Sampans Oriental. The food was delicious but the service was a little slow. The service in the hotel bar was very good and your drinks always arrived with a smile.

Braekfast was a buffet of both hot and continental, eggs where fried to order and fresh tea and coffee was ordered from the waiting staff. The food was of a good quality and the choice was good.

Checking out offered two options, either at the reception desk or during the night your bill was posted under your door. You smply write down you credit card deatails and post in the box, with your key as you leave. If returning to the airport they recommend you turn up 30mins before you need to be there as at peak times the transfers can get very busy.

Would I use this hotel again? Yes, the transfers were a little slow but if it was as competative on price as it was on this occasion these things can be overlooked.

I stayed two nights on business in February.
The room was cold, I changed room twice to be able to try to get warm.
Staff are very unhelpful, a rare steak was overcooked and no one seemed to understand the complaint.
A really bad experience after staying at many Crowne Plaza hotels around the world.
Never again. This hotel should get its act together.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza through an offer with APH parking. We parked up at the big airport carpark on Brodnor Road which was all very straightforward (apart from me realising on the bus I had left my mobile phone in the car, ooops but all sorted out!) and got their bus to the hotel.

Check-in was smooth and friendly even though it was 10 at night. We were pleased with our room and think perhaps we got upgraded to an executive as we had mineral water and robes and lots of room.

We were not at all disturbed by plane noise and it was an easy walk over to terminal 1 at 6 the next morning following a speedy check out.

I think we were in the hotel for the grand total of 9 hours, but it was a perfectly pleasant 9 hours! Obviously we did not have chance to eat either breakfast or dinner, but the bar area looked attractive, lots of creams and browns.

We would definitely use APH and Crowne Plaza if flying early from Manchester Airport again, excellent value for £65.

The hotel was nice, as was the room, however the bar and restaurant are in the same room. If you want a reasonably priced meal be careful to sit in the bar area at the front. Venture further in and it gets much more expensive. Our food was £39.90, which was ok but there are 2 large bottles of water on the table which you must pay for at £3.77. Add one glass of wine at £.5.60 and a Boddingtons at £3.65 plus 10% service charge. Full cost £59.20. So remember get yourself a table in the bar and don't ask the waitress for a table - it could be an expensive mistake.
