“Great Hotel”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

we stayed 1 night and were pleasantly surprised, the staff were attentive, helpful and could not do enough to make our stay pleasurable.
I would stay here again, our room was quiet and very comfortable, we ordered room service and the food was of a good standard. If you are using the car park you must obtain a card from reception to gain entry, we stayed in room 215, excellent room, spacious with 2 king size beds, 1 each :).

Room Tip: room 215, very quiet and spacious

Nice room, clean bathroom. Loads of space for weekend stay. Noise on Deansgate was noticeable - I'd you want quiet, ask for this. Not the cheapest but Manchester is not as cheap as you think. I'm sure there is lots of choice but don't pay more than £100 for a double room

Stayed at the 13th floor..Club floor, nice view inside the apartments across the street.
Good thing was the bed! nice comfy bed!

very small and weird layout, there was no way to watch the antique TV comfortably..
Although there was a dirty sofa there it was positioned to the side of the tv.

Internet was ok speedwise but kept dropping off.
Everything is very old..needs serious upgrading
Windows felt unsecured and actually 1 of the inner window came off the tracks when trying to close it and it seemed impossible to put back..
Bathroom tiny and dirty.

It´s not a cheap hotel so I did expect more, especially being a Renaissance..
There are plenty hotels around for the same price or below that seem nicer.

Location Location Location nothing else..

Stayed at the hotel for a second time in the last 18 months. Conveniently located a short walk away from Manchester Victoria station. On checking in I was upgraded to a suite located on the 12th floor. Nice spacious room made of two separate spaces a living room and a bedroom. For a suite, the decor was little bit too simple. Overall a pleasant stay however honestly speaking, please repair the main entrance door into the room - It's an insult to have guests stay at the brand-name hotel like that, in a suite with a front door in the condition as it is in.Likewise, again given the type of the room, the level (I have stayed on upgrades in better equipped rooms in Hamburg and New York) pls ensure cleaning staff should really make sure that appropriate toiletries are offered (without having to call for them) and trays on which they are displayed are washed and cleaned properly.

Marriott have got to get to work on this hotel and quick. It could easily make an appearance in an episode of Life on Mars and look totally 1973. The TVs and furniture in the rooms are ancient timepieces and why on earth would anyone pay £8 to watch a film through an old flickering cathode tube when for half that they could rent in full HD on their tablet. Hotels like this need to start streaming Netflix and Love Film or Apple TV. They could even charge for the privilege. And sorry, paying for Internet connection is also history now. Better to charge another £10 for the room and offer it free. So that's the bad news, the good news is that the Renaissance has fantastic potential to be a really good hotel, the room sizes are excellent as is the location and service. It just needs to enter the 21st century!

Location is perfect in downtown Manchester. Rooms are spacious and breakfast is fine. It seems like the hotel has not had an upgrade for the last ten years or so. Furniture in the rooms looks tired and worn. Weird stains were found on the carpet and the sofa. It just didn´t give a very cleaning feeling at all. Something I do expect from a Renaissance hotel. Wifi is available at a charge of 15 Pounds per 24 hrs. This is equal to 17 EUR or 23 USD. Really overpriced and unacceptable in my opinion.

Great location on Deansgate so handy for lots of bars and restaurants as well as the M.E.N. Arena , extremely friendly staff and massive room, booked a twin and had two queen beds and a sitting area with sofa and two chairs as well as a desk and really big bathroom, spotlessly clean, had breakfast delivered to the room for no extra charge and had possibly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!
