“Great Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

This hotel is in a great location and that is the best I can say about it. It is within easy walking distance to just about everything. In addition the staff was extremely helpful and the public areas while a bit dated were comfortable. The rooms and the hallways could only be described as needing a major makeover. They do not look as if they have been painted in years. For a short stay this is a good hotel. For a longer stay I would explore other options.

I'm a seasoned business traveler and have stayed at this property three times on an annual basis. It's well located and has a nice lobby / bar area. The rooms are a bit tired and are in high need of a make-over. Unfortunately, the Renaissance brand was designed to be of a higher status than other full-service Mariott brands and this one really does not hold up to that. The rooms themselves are clean and acceptable, but it honestly feels like a time warp back to the 90's. Would stay again as I'm a Mariott Platinum Member, but it it wasn't for that; I'd probably move along to a more updated property.

Excellent city centre location on Deansgate. Stayed one night only during a trip for a Manchester United match, transport to Old Trafford, MEN etc is good and the hotel is in the heart of the lively Deansgate area. Disappointing charges - 16 GBP for one day's wifi use? Room was fine, service was average.

My stay at the renaisance was a good one the rooms were nice and clean and the bathroom spacious although the tv was very old fashioned. But paying for wi-fi in the bedrooms was not for me I didn't really find that good for over £100 per night. Also paying for breakfast in the morning was not a good deal for me I think it should of been included in the price. But all in all it was a good stay I slept well and was not disturbed during the night.

Spent one night at the Renaissance whilst attending a concert at the MEN. Very well located for the arena and for shopping in the Arndale. Staff friendly and informative. We stayed in a Club level room which had extra space and a sitting area which was good for relaxing in.

We have just returned from a two night stay at the Renaissance Manchester. We booked using Tesco Rewards so got a really good deal for our two night stay.

Check in was friendly and efficient and we were in our room (401) within 5 minutes of our arrival. The room was clean and well presented and very spacious. The room was L shaped and had a comfortable seating area . The bathroom was a decent size and there was a supply of toiletries. There was tea/coffee making facilities as well as a hair dryer, iron, ironing board and trouser press.

Our deal included breakfast for two days. The restaurant service was friendly and efficient. There was a good range of hot and cold food available and dishes were frequently replenished.

The hotel is in a good position being within walking distance of shops, cathedral, Piccadilly Gardens, Chinatown and the Manchester Art Gallery.

We found all staff to be welcoming, friendly and efficient and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel - particularly if you can get a good deal which reduces the normal rate.

We have just spent 3 nights at The Renaissance Hotel in Manchester's city centre. We were delighted by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. We found the food good, rooms were kept clean and well furnished, beds very comfortable and we were provided with all the extras such as hair-dryer, iron and ironing board, kettle, coffee, tea and milk and toiletries. We didn't have to go or 'phone and request these. We could walk easily to most of the interesting buildings: the Cathedral; the Art Gallery; the Town Hall and public transport was available nearby.

Room Tip: higher floors have excellent views over the city. We were on the 11th - even numbers.
