“Value for Money”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

We recently stayed at this hotel for one night on a room only basis as we were meeting up with relatives to go for a meal. Very impressive entrance and entrance hall, however it was in need of some redecoration and only one lift of the two was working, which made getting up and down from the 3rd floor difficult at certain times as the hotel w fairly full. However we would recommend this hotel for a short stay, due to its central location and the price of a double room, which was spacious and comfortable.

Room is like a prison cell. No window. Decor awful - like a poor grandmas. Location appears alright though as does bathroom (all relative). Only came here as I had a freebie hotel voucher. U get what you pay for.

Stayed at this Hotel for five nights, having travelled with Majestic Coach Tours. Its a beautiful building, but in need of a facelift. The entrance foyer of the hotel is very impressive with a huge wide staircase and magnificent chandeliers. Most of the hotel including the rooms need re-decoration, although I would like to see some of the old features remain. We were on a breakfast and evening meal basis for our stay. The breakfast was OK and the evening meal was adequate, with most nights having a choice of two main courses (buffet). If you want a reasonably priced place to stay in the heart of Manchester then this hotel would fit the bill.

I stayed here for 2 weeks whilst I was visiting Manchester. I paid £40 pn for the stay including a 10 supplement for a window. Building was lovely. Stair case is good. Shame service isn't. Waited 30mins in Que to check in. Got to my room and it was a mess. Carpet was stained bed was not made finishing were dusty. Shower didn't work so made a bath to find all sorts of bugs in the water. Window was 6" from the ground but at least it got rid of the stale smell. Only one lift works which can take upto 30mins to arrive. Wi-fi is unreliable. I will never stay here again

Dirt on dirt, no windows, air conditioning broken and a time warp back to the1970's. truly awful room which looked like it had not been cleaned for some time. The bed linen was clean which is the only positive about the room.

If your looking for a cheap room for one night then this place is good. We paid £29 for a room without a window but when we arrived at the room we had one with a bath so we couldn't complain. Staff were slow and the beds are rock hard. We had asked for a double room but the beds are two singles put together, aslong as your not fussy and just need a place to rest your head then for £29 you can't complain. The best thing about it is the location and being able to get discounted parking if you are driving!
