My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 days and we hated every second spent in the hotel. Upon arrival I noticed the staircase was dirty, and couches at the reception were stained and actually broken. We stayed in a saver room. We were told beforehand these rooms had no windows but assumed the room would have some form of ventilation or air conditioning, which wasn't there. The room was boiling and made it very difficult to sleep in.The shower in the room was broken, switching from freezing to scalding every 5 seconds. The staff were very unfriendly and it seemed to feel like talking to customers was a chore. The majority of the staff were foreign and spoke broken english, this is a problem when like me, you have a glaswegien accent which noone understands to begin with. We stayed on the fifth floor and the elevator was broken for most of the stay. The maid also failed to show up twice. There is also no parking meaning we had to pay around £40 for three days parking. I would recommend you all to visit Manchester,it is an amazing city, but DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Room Tip: We may have had a better experience had we forked out for an executive room, which were roomier and had windows.

This hotel is in urgent need of a revamp. The hotel is in a good location, and has a grand entrance and stairway which is really impressive, but unfortunately the positives end there. We stayed for one night (a Saturday) and should have heeded the warning signs when, on arrival, we queued behind a couple of people who were complaining and refusing to stay.
The room itself was on the first floor, and was very run down (peeling wallpaper etc) and not very clean at all. The bathroom was really drab and tired, and again not clean. The worst part was the horrendous stench of stale cigarette smoke that smelled like it was deeply ingrained into everything. It was really overwhelming and quite horrible. This is despite booking a no smoking room.
We went out for the evening, and when we returned there was really loud music (and I mean REALLY loud) coming up through the floor. We phoned reception to ask when it might finish, and the staff member hung up! We then went down to reception and the attitude was just as bad. They basically laughed it off and said they got the same thing every Saturday. They offered us a 10% discount (which we were then refused the next day by the equally rude staff member who said they weren’t able to authorise it) and we were given a free bottle of wine, which even the bar staff who gave it to us described as undrinkable!
This would not have seemed as bad if the hotel was a bargain, but at over £100 for the night (excluding breakfast) it was really disappointing. When we were looking for a hotel, others came up in a similar price range, including the newly-refurbished Mercure over the road, which would definitely have been preferable. I would not recommend this hotel unless you were absolutely desperate or managed to get a really cheap deal with a price that was in line with the quality.

An OK hotel! Rooms quite small, we stayed in a superior double and was expecting bigger but the room was quite cheap so couldn't really complain! Breakfast in the morning wasn't outstanding but was descent and edible! Stay away from Thebes k pudding though it was awefull!! Overall if your looking to stay In manchester and be in the city centre for cheap! This us your place! Just don't expect top quality!

....to expand on that, I mean the hotel looks ok from a distance, but once you see past the cheap cosmetic enhancements, it's a tired old establishment, badly maintained and full of stag do's!
Check-in was dreadful and long winded, lifts were hit and miss to whether they worked and the rooms are tired, last updated and possibly scrubbed clean in the mid 90's and ours smelt of fags. We took a family room but it wasn't until the 3rd time of asking that we were given enough beds. To say we paid £149, I feel a little robbed. We ate from the pizzeria and in the mixed platter, the chicken was dangerously cool and the garlic mushrooms frozen in the middle.
We went for a family member's 60th and whilst it didn't wreck the celebration, the collective lack of sleep due to nightclub noise, tropically heated rooms and hotel guests stomping/screaming/knocking up until around 6am took the edge off our Sunday. I stayed at a travelodge 2 nights previously to this and paid £29. I paid £120 more for this and subjected my kids to this place. (sorry kids and sorry denise - you're not this bad!)

Don't be fooled from the photos on the site, yes the foyer is impressive but the room I stayed in (a 'turret' single room) was grubby and dated. The lamp on the wall was broken, the bathroom was dirty (black grout etc) and the room had no window. For what you pay it is just not good enough.

Also beware of the 'car parking' which is at least a good 10 minute walk away, and certainly not something you want to do with a few bulky suitcases.

Room Tip: Do not go for the single rooms! I guess the more expensive suites *may* not be so grubby.
