Recent stay on a Saturday night, the car park recommended was fantastic, clean and 30% discount, reception staff and concierge very helpful and knowledgeable. Hotel in great walking location of canal st, king st and arndale centre.
Only complaints I found a credit card receipt in my room from 24/02/13 (housekeeping issue) and where my room was situated it was very noisy people shouting and bottles being emptied into bins, think there was a club at the side of the hotel.. All in all great central location

We have not long returned from our stay at The MacDonald Townhouse.
I checked into this establishment mid February with my partner and it was excellent. On arrival we were pleasantly greeted by the concierge at the main doors who was ever so polite, he warmly welcomed us to the hotel and escorted us and our bags up the stairs into the reception area, handing us over to the reception team for check in. The reception staff were equally as pleasant and spared no expense in detailing the facilities, amenities and surrounding areas. The concierge escorted us to our room, detailing facilities whilst exchanging polite conversation along the way. We were escorted to our and then given a detailed overview of the room as a whole, we were shown how to work the TV and safe, presented with tea/coffee making facilities and given details on how to contact reception if needed. (Another nice touch was enquiring if any drinks needed ordering or any reservations needed booking, a very polite and welcoming chap). We chose to eat in the restaurant and the service was equally as brilliant. We were served by the gentleman who was working behind the bar and he couldn't have done enough for us, checking if food was good and if drinks needed a refill, something which seems to be swept aside in other establishments. He gave polite conversation and was a very good host for the evening, 10/10.
When asking for directions to nearby attractions we were presented with a detailed map at reception and shown the quickest way to get to where we wanted to go, the reception team have great local knowledge and know how to do their job. The lady behind reception was very friendly indeed, joining her colleagues in a friendly smile as guests trailed through the reception area, offering a kind "good afternoon" along the way. Overall we cannot say enough good things about the service standard in this hotel, nothing is a chore and all of the staff are more than happy to help you and embark in a warm conversation.
WILL DEFINITELY BE RETURNING IN MARCH WHEN WE COME TO THE CITY TO SEE THE LION KING WITH FAMILY MEMBERS. Fabulous hotel.

Stayed here on business, good room, spacious and clean, comfy bed, ate in the restaurant and found the service was very good, and the food was excellent, like the bar area as well, so yes I would stay here again, and the prices were reasonable.

Parking was ok as well.

Just returned from this hotel and to say its a 4* Boutique hotel the service was terrible, all the members of staff were unpleasant and seemed put out if you asked questions. The room was nice although there was no bin to put rubbish in apart from a tiny one in the bathroom. The room was incredibly hot almost unbearable and the air conditioning only seemed to make the heat worse. Breakfast was most probably the biggest downfall of all, the "breakfast supervisor" was extremely rude looked down his nose at us, the breakfast itself was very disappointing. Overall the stay was unpleasant, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone and I most definitely wouldn't stay here myself again.

Me and my friends had afternoon Tea here on the 2 for 1 offer today .

Lovely hotel and reception area.Wasn't acknowledge by anyone at Reception .Had to find our own way to the restaurant .Waited a few mins to be seated and seen .Had to walk in towards the bar to been seen after waiting for a few mins The restaurant was empty at this time and had cups and plates from pervious customers left lying around a few of the tables.

Service is really bad at this Hotel. The guy who serve us was very snappy and didn't even smiled once.If he didn't had to explain what was on the afternoon tea stand .I doubt he would of spoken to us at all. There was no hello or bye.Nobody once came to us and ask is everything ok .When we paid the bill nobody came for it and we just got and left without being acknowledge again .

The afternoon tea was lovely but with service like that and wasn't expected from a a 4 star hotel we won't be returning again and would not recommend to
Family and friends.

I went to this hotel on recommendation having previously stayed at Jury's Inn. I was a little disappointed but maybe that was because my expectations were high. The hotel advertised free wifi but this did not work on the first night and was patchy on the second. One of my colleagues had to be moved late at night because of the noise from water pipes in the room. For these two reasons I would avoid getting a meal on the fifth (top) floor

The bed was very comfortable and the furniture was of a high quality and well maintained. The hotel was very centrally located being on the edge of Chinatown and only 5 minutes walk from both Piccadilly station and the main shopping centre. Breakfast was good quality but the hot breaksfast was cooked to order. On a business trip a buffet would have been much better from the point of view of variety, quantity and speed of service. Staff were unfailingly polite though not always able to provide solutions to problems. I hope these comments are constructive as with a little more attention to detail this hotel would be an excellent one.

Room Tip: Avoid the fifth (top) floor

The room, reception staff and general ambiance were all great. The room was somewhat noisy throughout the night but this is to be expected given the location. We waited a long time for our cooked breakfasts ( over 45 minutes) and received no apology or explanation. When we requested fresh tea and toast, they did not appear. We had to ask a second time. By the time they finally arrived, we were finished out cooked breakfasts. There did appear to be a shortage of staff but the lack of apology or even acknowledgement of the delays was somewhat baffling. A disappointing aspect of an otherwise pleasant stay.
