Lovely hotel. Nice reception area, great rooms, friendly staff. Hard to find faults here, will be back very soon.

Lovely hotel, all refurbed, shiny and new except..... the signage, gives the old hotel's name with just a cardboard notice in the window to say it is actually the Macdonald Townhouse! Very hard to notice when you are going round the one way system for the 6th time trying to work out where the hotel actually is. It also doesn't help that they are listed under the old hotel name in directory enquiries when you do try and call to ask for help to find them. Very, very frustrating. Breakfast was very poor value, don't bother. One last criticism, there was no mirror in the room to do hair and make up which was another frustration. If the management can get these issues address asap (and may have by now) it will be a fabulous hotel for the price and location.

We stayed at the Macdonald Townhouse 2nts 08/0711
we stayed in a double room. Room 208.
REALLY comfy bed. Gorgeous rain shower ensuite.
Flat screen TV and complimentary bottle of water
Great views out the window.
We could hear some street noise but we were able to sleep through it so i wouldn’t say it was excessively loud.

Before I booked I googled promotional codes and found one which entitled us to breakfast.
Breakfast is £15.50 each so i managed to get £62 worth of breakfast with my booking :o)
Also upon check in i received a £15 voucher to spend on drinks at the bar - WoW.!!!!!!

We parked at the Novotel across the street (literally opposite)
This was about £35 for 2days

I would defiantly stay here again, I had a very pleasant stay.
We found the Staff helpful and polite

Me, my partner and our 20 month old daughter stopped here for one Saturday night. The hotel is extremely difficult to find as the building says its the Princess Hotel. You have to go to a dingy side entrance to get in and then take stairs or a lift to the reception. We had a very poor welcome. We arrived 20 minutes before check in time but the receptionist told us that although the rooms were probably ready the computer said we couldnt have them. When asked where we could wait we were shown to the bar where another guest was being told that the hotel was overbooked and they would have to go to the larger Macdonald hotel across town.
Going up to the room the corridors were littered with used room service plates and empty drink glasses. Once in the room we were pleasantly surprised, very modern and the bathroom was very impressive. We ate out on the evening so cant comment on the meals but the drinks in the bar are top end prices and the surroundings dont quite match the price point. One positive was a Michael Buble impersonator which is not my cup of tea but was very entertaining. Breakfast the next morning was chaotic. No staff to greet guests and when we finally got a table it took four requests to get a high chair. Our hot breakfasts were sent back as they were not up to standard. Considering the aggrevation we had I would normally give 1 star but I think this could be a very good hotel if it had some management. At no time during our stay did I see any staff of authority and the staff we did see although appeared to be trying their best seemed very inexperienced . I think it sums it up when, whilst checking out the staff didnt ask how our stay was.

We got a very reasonable rate for our one night stay and were delighted with the location, room standard and general vibe in the hotel. Everything is very coordinated and we loved the olive green/aubergine room and the monsoon rainfall shower in the trendy black bathroom. As we had eaten so much on the Saturday evening we skipped breakfast and got coffee and toast in a local cafe. We would have loved to have stayed longer.
