This cheap hotel provides exatly what you need before you go away, clean bed and a hot meal and a decent price. Its no 4 star hotel though! Be aware that its very easy to be transfered to the airport which is great - but its a bother having to wait to be picked up on the other end when your jet-lagged and cold. I would maybe advise you to see how much it would be to get a back cab from the airport terminal because on both occasions I have waited to be picked up and taken to my car I have waited 40 minutes when I was promised 10 minutes on the phone. If travelling with small children it may be a hastle to wait and easier to sort out your own transport to the hotel after your flight.

The hotel is very noisy the reception staff are unhelpful in sorting out problems. The breakfast was poor quality and over cooked car parking spaces were bit hit and miss and quite a long way from the hotel. Would not use this hotel again.Children running around in the early hours making lots of noise in the corridors.

We have stayed at the Britannia Country House Hotel numerous times before holidays, benefiting from packages including parking, carvery meals, a comfy room, transfers to the Airport, wake up calls and excellent staff.
We used the hotel again for our recent holiday in Gambia and again were really pleased and will return. We also stayed at the hotel on return as the flight didn't get into Manchester until nearly midnight ( although a quick transfer waiting at the terminal had us at the hotel within 15 minutes). The only disappointment was the surprise of being allocated a very small room on the ground floor and the noise of a large group of teenage children, I think for some sporting event, running around corridors outside and rooms above in the early hours. Having said that it was clean, tidy and very welcome after a long flight. Thanks to the reception staff who went out of there way to make really fresh sandwiches and salad for us, despite our midnight arrival.

This was our second stay at this hotel and we were really pleased. The food was excellent. Plenty of choice for both breakfast and the evening meal. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The reviews for this hotel have been really poor but we can't say anything negative about it. The price was unbelievably good value and we would stay at this hotel in future.

Stayed here with my mum last weekend just for one night and that was long enough, we would never stay here again. My mum had a flyer through the post for this hotel a few weeks ago with an offer for light lunch, evening meal, entertainment and breakfast. We checked in, the receptionist knew nothing about the offer. He did not know about the light lunch but we got sandwiches and crisps and ice cream eventually. We would told they do not have entertainment on a Sunday night so to us this was false advertising. We did receive a free bottle of wine and free entry to the pool etc.
The room was ok but not clean at all especially the bathroom the shower door was filthy and the floor plus there was alot of dust in the windowsill. When you watched the tv you could see round the base of it, it was thick with dust.
Also there were loads of young children staying there from Ireland with their parents and they just run riot round the hotel and none of the staff seem to be bothered about them at all. We came out of our room to find clothes and a trophy thrown in front of our door a fella just picked them up never told the lads off or apologised to us. In the evening my mum went back to the room for something and she found a lad hanging over the bannister hanging in mid air an accident waiting to happen she told reception they said it was the parents responsibility she told them it would be hers and the Managers responsibility if anything had happened to the child. This wait on late into the night with this children. We shall never stay here again I use to think Britannia was a good hotel not anymore.
The food was awful as well the meat was I think meant to be ham swimming in gravy we did not bother with that had the fish pie but that was not very nice. There was not much choice and it was meant to be a carvery. I have stayed in Britannia hotels before and the food has been lovely

Have just checked in- what an appalling place! Paid £59 for one night plus 8 days parking. Car park is a pot hole nightmare, then told we have to pay £6 per person for the airport transfer. Room is a hovel, building an eyesore. This was meant to be a lovely relaxing start to a hol- we would have been better off paying for a taxi to the airport and staying away!
