I booked a single room for a single night - but was given a really large and comfortable double room. It was completely peaceful, and there were many extra welcoming touches - a handwritten welcome note from the Guest Relations Manager, real coffee (and tea etc of course), free wifi. Excellent bed, and large bathroom. A most pleasant stay, and I would certainly return. The hotel is a magnificent piece of Victorian building and very conveniently situated.

We stayed for one night on a break from the kids, and couldn't have loved it more. The room was great - huge telly and king size bed, dodgy shower but the pros definitely outweighed the cons. The lobby, bar, lounge and restaurant are fabulous, and the staff, bar none, we're exceptional in their hospitality and helpfulness. We got a severely reduced rate via an internet site, but wouldn't hesitate in paying double to stay here again. No hotel will please everyone, and a place with so many people staying at once will create a few bad nights for a few people. If you've never stayed here, and are wondering whether to, just book it - we've stayed at the hilton, and the atmosphere at the midland shames it. Same time next year - babysitters willing!!!

We were looking forwards to our stay. Parking difficult and a good 5 minute walk to the hotel, valet parking available apparently. Checked in, enquirer about breakfast for the next morning and was told we couldn't have it because they were full! But could have room service.
Bedroom was well decorated and the bed was really comfy.

Dear Dabren1963,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay at The Midland. I'm pleased that you thought your bedroom was well decorated and you found the bed comfy.

I’m sorry that you weren’t able to have breakfast in Mr. Cooper’s House and Garden; those guests who have booked a room inclusive of breakfast prior to check-in are always prioritised for a table in the restaurant. Guests who have booked room only and wish to add breakfast on check-in are sometimes able to use the restaurant, depending on availability, but are always welcome to take breakfast in their rooms or have a lighter option on the lounge.

I’m also sorry that you found parking difficult, the car park which we recommend is the NCP at Manchester Central, directly behind the hotel, where they charge roughly £19.00 for 24 hours. We do also offer a valet parking service at £25.00 for 24 hours.

I hope to welcome you back to the hotel soon.

Kind regards,

Thomas Smith

I had a lovely big room which was beautifully decorated and very clean. It was room only so I can't comment on the breakfast. I was meeting family and we spent quite a long time sitting in the lobby/lounge area where we ate lunch and also had tea and scones later on....the food was very nice and the staff were very helpful...we were quite a big group so it was a lot to deal with! My only complaint was that the check in was a bit slow....only one desk was staffed and they were dealing with another guest. There were 2 more staff floating around behind reception who didn;t acknowledge me. But the girl who did check me in (on the desk that was staffed) was very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed at the Midland with a colleague earlier this week to attend a conference at Manchester Central. It is literally 2 minutes walk from the back door of the hotel to the conference centre so couldn't be handier, and it's 5 minutes walk from Oxford Road station.
The building is very grand and it is beautifully decorated inside. Our rooms were large, comfortable and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and the bar area very pleasant. The breakfast could be slightly more interesting but it was fine.
I'd recommend this hotel to anyone and fully intend to stay there again when in Manchester.

I came here to celebrate my 18th birthday and was a wonderful experience.
Greeted within champagne on arrival and a Madeira wine to cleanse the palette. After a shirt while a selection of sandwiches were presented which were:
- egg mayo
- chicken mayo
- cheddar cheese
- honey and mustard
- cream cheese wrapped in salmon on a skewer.
I don't usually like egg mayo and ham but these were delicious, all served on different bread with no crust, cut into fingers. The came a sultana scone each with clotted cream and home made strawberry preserve which was also delicious. And finally, a selection of cakes and pastries which were very nice but very rich, but small so able to handle. It varied from batten-burg cake, to strawberry tarts to brownies.
The overall experience was fabulous and the staff were very friendly. Will definitely be returning soon!

Room Tip: Book in advance!
