We recently stayed two nights at The Midland for my sisters wedding.

We were greates at the door by a very smartly dressed man who couldn't do enough for us, taking our bags out of the car & loading them into a stand, he then promptly advised us of where to go & check in etc while he sorted the bags / dresses. We were checked in very quickly & efficiently by the lovely receptionist. As soon as we were checked in there was another gentleman with our belongings to take us to our rooms.
The rooms were beautiful as was the rest of the hotel! The room still had its original feel to it with a modern twist. The bathroom was spotless.
We enjoyed a meal in the Wyvern restaurant on the Thursday night before the wedding. We wanted to eat in The French but unfortunately it was closed for the evening. However the Wyvern had a good choice of food (we had elderly & fussy eaters with us), the waitress was very attentive & friendly. The bill came to around £30 each for starters, mains, coffee & wine so not too bad!
The wedding the next day went without a hitch & all the staff were wonderful...nothing was too much trouble for any of them! The room the wedding was held in was spectacular! The only complaint I would have is that in a room of that size being used for a wedding (or conference) you would have thought the midland would of provided you with a microphone for the speeches as it was very difficult to hear any of them due to the size of the room. However this is only a minor complaint.

To sum up, amazing place, amazing setting, amazing staff, amazing food...all in all a wonderful place to stay! Definitely recommend it.

We were in the Midlans Hotel for the August Bank Holiday. We were greeted by friendly receptionists . we were lucky to get an up grade. Our room was comfortable + cosy. There were weddings throughout the weekend. This shows a well run and productive Hotel. Although small i did have a dip in the pool, Play table tennis + have a sauna. We had breakfast on our 3 day stay. Although there was a slight disruption because the Breakfast room was being renovated we had Pleanty to eat. The staff worked really hard + were very pleasant..
Although rooms slightly dated they were really nice + fitting to the Building + History. We had a room to leave our luggage on our departing day to explore More of Manchester. The staff are a credit ti this Hotel. They are all Pleasant + hard working. Well done the Midland

Room Tip: be cheeky and ask for an upgrade. we were happy we did . It is pot luck on the day but worth a try. Top floor ( 6 ) is quiet

Stayed here for 2 nights for my husbands birthday at August bank holiday weekend, with our son and daughter-in-law joining us for the last night in a second room.
The room was very clean, bed and bedding quality, Smart TV with lots of channels inc Sky Sports (bonus!), Free WiFi, aircon, mini bar, etc. Staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble, right from reception, to maintenance ( aircon went off and was fixed immediately on reporting) to breakfast and bar staff.

As other reviewers have said, it was a little chaotic at breakfast, but it is during a referb of the main restaurant and, when we stayed, there was two very large wedding parties in - all of us leaving breakfast till the last hour I think on both mornings! The food was still of a high quality, was replenished, and brought to your table if it was going to take a few minutes. In fact my son described it as 'Epic' after their large night out ( and they happily gave us a table for four)!

We got a great B&B deal with Laterooms, and my son with Olotel. I informed the hotel in advance about my husbands birthday and asked if we could have a city view. On arrival the checking in staff were so friendly, chatting about our birthday plans, offering help and, not only did they give us a room with a view, but they upgraded us to kingsize and left a card and box of handmade chocolates in our room. Thoroughly impressed with the staff and would like to return when The French is reopened. Thanks for the extra touches, lovely weekend.

Room Tip: Third floor with a city view are lovely and bright.

Stayed here weekend of 24/25 September , beautiful building, great decor, concierge staff wonderful but rest of it quite disappointing , breakfast can only be described as awful, staff seemed over stretched, food was poor, scrambled eggs when they did finally arrive were a cross between grey and green and tasted as bad as they looked

Thank you for your review of The Midland. I'm sorry that your visit did not meet your expectations and I assure you that your comments regarding breakfast will be shared with our food and beverage manager and head chef so that they may be addressed. We are currently serving breakfast from a temporary location whilst our restaurant is refurbished but this should not affect the quality of the food provided.

We stayed for the bank holiday weekend, I have nothing bad to say about it. The rooms was lovely, bathroom was huge and spotlessly clean. A lovely complimentary bottle of wine for out special occasion. Staff very helpful. All in all would definitely go back.
