This hotel is absolutely gorgeous! It's full of history and the building reflects this. The staff are outstanding, friendly but professional; there are a lot of them as well, which means that you constantly feel cared for. Manchester is a fantastic city and this hotel is right at the heart of things. I particularly liked the knowledge of the staff - they were able to tell us lots about the hotel and its history, it felt like they really loved the place and took pride in their work. An excellent stay in my home city, thank you Midland staff.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor and our room was very quiet and beautifully furnished.

We booked for one night and had been looking around for a couple of weeks. We had stayed at The Midland before so we new how good this hotel was.
On the morning we were due to go Manchester we still had nothing booked. I rang Qhotels and enquired what rate was available. We were pleasantly surprised to hear that there is a 'Fantastic Friday' deal which was £84 for 1 night B&B, this was cheaper than room only at Premier Inn!
We arrived at the hotel to a very warm welcome, and our room was ready. Nice size room and clean. We did not come back to the room until later were we just got showered, changed and then out again. We had one drink in the bar and the staff were very friendly. The BBC were filming, the staff told us there was a documentary about the restaurant 'French' which had been re-designed.
If you are looking for somewhere a bit lively, there is a Cuban bar just a bit further down Peter Street towards Deansgate, good atmosphere but there are queues later on.

Breakfast the following morning was hot & plentiful just as we expected. We would stay here again with out hesitation especially if we could get the same rate. Qhotels have a club called 'Breakaway' which for £20 gives you a lifetime membership. This gives special rates and added extras so could be worthy looking in to.

Room Tip: Room 408 did not have a view but a result was very quiet.

My wife and I stayed at the Midland for a weekend break and to attend a show at the Bridgewater Hall which is only round the corner from the hotel.
The hotel is spotlessly clean, the staff are fantastic and can't do enough for you to ensure your stay is trouble free. The breakfasts are great whether you just want a continental style or a full english one, we dined both evenings in the Wyvern Restaurant and found the food to be of a very high standard indeed and we can certainly recommend the steaks. Our room was huge and had everything to make our break as relaxing as we hoped.
The hotel is very well placed for easy access to the city centre via the Metro or the free city centre bus network, as well as being close to both the Bridgewater Hall and also the Manchester CentralConference Hall.
The only downside as some other reviewers have commented on , is the noise element from music at functions in the downstairs function areas. On one of the evenings we stayed, there was a wedding with a live band and although we were on the fifth floor in a 'quiet' room, the volume of noise was in our view over excessive!
However, that said it did not cloud our opinion of the hotel which we deemed as excellent and the package we were on was undoubtedly very good value for money.
We will be back to this outstanding hotel, hopefully in the very near future

Myself,my husband and another couple stayed on Mother's day weekend. The staff were excellent and the rooms were lovely. The beds were soooo comfy. Breakfast was great and well worth the money and it wasn't expensive. The valet parking was an excellent service. Thanks to all of you, our weekend was perfect

Went on a theatre break (Sat night) to see the Lion King. Parked at the NCP at rear of hotel. £18.40 for 24 hours. Hotel does "not" have it's own car park. £25 for valet parking. Had to park there due to problem walking. Much cheaper parking nearby if you can walk. 10% discrestionary service charge when you use bars etc. You must tell them if you don't want to pay, otherwise automatically goes on bill. Stayed on 4th floor. View of library roof across the road. All staff really helpfull and nice. Great evening meal. Nice room. Lovely pool, jaccuzi and sauna. Fantastic buffett breakfast. Chambermaids say hello when they see you. Would stay again.
