“Good 1 night stopover”
Reviewed July 13, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here the night before flying and it was more than we expected.
For the price we paid we were extremely happy and the check in and shuttle bus were run like clockwork.
Will definitely use again in future.

A large hotel but its location right in the airport is ideal. There is a free shuttle bus from the station and to and from the terminals which is ideal especially early in the morning. The staff in the restaurant were extremely efficient.

The hotel is very close to the terminal and the train station, but as the information person at the airport put it, "the area has not been pedestrianized." The solution is simple--call the hotel on a courtesy phone and a free shuttle van is there in minutes.

The hotel itself is fine, good bar and restaurant, and triple glazed windows in the rooms eliminate all of the outside noise.

One caveat: they charge £20 extra for an early checkin. So, if you arrive early, which is not unusual if you are on a transatlantic flight, be prepared to pay extra or wait. (In all my years of travel--organizing group tours since 1990--I have never run into this. I pitched a bit of a fit, and the fee was waived for my group.)

We stayed here for one night after flying into Manchester Airport. Was very disappointed at the worn state of the rooms (we were on floor 3). They had that nasty tobacco smell lingering since smoking was banned, and the sheets did not smell clean and fresh, in fact, they smelled used. I would have complained but it was 4am and after a long flight. That floor could certainly use a bit of decorating and new bedding.

It was quite noisy, but I guess one should expect that at an airport.

Although the rooms were not nice, the transfer service was fantastic. You can call from the airport and they come pick you up within 5 minutes. In the morning they also transferred us to the train station, all included in price. The drivers and reception staff were very helpful and approachable.

Room Tip: Not sure if all the floors need decorating, but I'd certainly try to avoid floor 3.

Dear Reviewer,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review on Tripadvisor. I am truly sorry that you were disappointed with the room during your stay. The hotel has recently become a no smoking hotel and we have addressed the problem of rooms which had previously been used as smoking rooms with a refurbishment programme. All bedding is laundered daily and our housekeeping team work to an extremely high standard. I do hope you will return to the hotel when next travelling via Manchester Airport and may I suggest you request a room in the new wing of the hotel where I feel sure you will find the room to your satisfaction.
With kind regards

120 euro for double per night is too much for such tired rooms, not tasty breakfast, lack of refrigerator and very old towels. Probably for UK it's a cheap price, but in the rest part of Europe you will have deal with something better. Wifi is very sloooow. If you try to go to hotel by foot for the 1st time - it could be hard to find it, take shuttle. By the way suits are quite big. Anyway i will not recommend you to stay in this hotel.

On my way back I took premier inn manchester hotel (90 euro per night) - price is better, but you need to get a train or taxi (6 pounds). Not recommended to stay in.

Dear Reviewer,
Thank you for posting your review on Tripadvisor. I am slightly perplexed by your review as so many of our guests feedback leads us to believe that we exceed the standards of many of the equivalent three star properties throughout Europe of which I am very proud. I see you would also not recommend the Premier Inn which is a very popular choice here at Manchester Airport. I do hope you will stay with us again when I am sure you will find that the standards of service that we offer meet with your expectations.
With kind regards

Though we have travelled for nearly 20 years it was the first time we stayed in a hotel before travelling. We paid £56 for a nights stay. I booked on line, the check in was nice and easy. Lovely room with tea and coffee facilities (in the drawer). Bed was very comfy, I loved the big pillows, Had a very good meal in the restaurant and a few drinks afterwards. It was a great start to the holiday. The transfer to the terminal the next morning was quick and easy,. WOULD DEFINATELY STAY THERE AGAIN.

With the mixed reviews on Tripadvisor, I really did not know what to expect; and was pleasntly surprised. I used the easily found freephone at the Station to call for the shuttle bus. 5 minutes later it picked me up. Easy check in, although the girl on reception was a bit miserable; lovely, large room. Booked my shuttle bus for 5:30 the next morning with reception, it left on time for my journey to Terminal 3.
Would have given it 5 stars except for three minor things, the soap dispenser in the bathroom sink did not work, and the "free" shampoo and shower gel are dispensed together from one that did work, rather than the much preferred freebie containers; also, the bath towell was quite small and not at all soft.
