“Bad experience”
Reviewed October 13, 2007

I would not recommend this hotel. While the hotel was clean and relatively new there were a lot of problems. When I was checking in, the reception staff had a bad attitude, were reluctant to answer any questions I had and were generally rude and unfriendly. When I got to my hotel room, there were no toiletries, no shampoo, not even a bar of soap. The room itself was clean, however, was very bland and lacking any personality. I telephoned reception and requested a wake-up call, however, I never received the wake-up call and woke up late for my flight. The hotel was extremely busy and overly crowded. I tried Bewleys Hotel as an alternative to the SAS Radisson Hotel (they recently increased their rates), its true you really do get what you pay for.

Now unless your booked on a conference your unlikely to be at the Bewleys for more than one night, so it needs to all be simple, clean and hassle free and that's exactly what it was.

Our room was fresh and new feelng, in a similar stlye to some of the budget chains, but a bit more upmarket than those. The rooms have free wireless internet which is handy for catching up with e-mail before or after your trip.

As others have said its only a few minutes walk from T1 and T3.

The hotel charges £5 a night for parking and other rates apply for longer stays.

As most people are staying for just a night the hotel check in/out is always busy and express check out is not available, but being reintroduced apparently. The check in/out staff were efficient and serviced the queue quickly but it would be worth giving yourself a few extra minutes.

We ate in the hotel restaurant and had to wait an hour for a table which didn't bother us particularly but book ahead if you want a specific time for dinner. The food was of a good standard if a little on the pricey side.

When you drive to the hotel dont worry if you think you've gone past it - you pass the hotel on your left and then get to the roundabout after the hotel and come back on yourself.

Would have no hesitation staying at Bewleys again.

This hotel is very handy, being just a short walk from terminals 1 & 3 (slightly further to terminal 2 but still walkable). There is a shuttle bus available if you are really laden with luggage. I walked across with a trolley case & was disappointed to find that there is not actually a trolley route & you do have to lift the bag on & off kerbs which is something of a nuisance.
The room was fine for one night, with TV, hairdryer, iron, kettle & sofa. The bathtub was very small even for me (I am only 5 ft 3, so anyone tall would struggle). & there was a lot of corridor noise. The shampoo, hand wash & shower gel were all wall mounted. There was no bar of soap nor any flannel provided.
The £79 set price is probably reasonable for a couple, but as a single traveller I found it pricy. Other than the location, you did not really have anything more than you would find at a Travelodge (at about 1/4 of the price)

I stayed at this hotel whilst on buisness.
We arrived late and had difficulty parking.... no spaces, people had parked up on the kerbs, verges etc but did in the end find a space although a little distance from the entrance.

Check in was efficient and the receptionist advised parking is £5 a night and are parking ticket was validated for the morning (as had an early flight).

Went to our room - 135, was sharing with a colleague but it was a pleasure to find out it was an american style room with 2 x double beds (not the standard 2 x single) the room was exceptionally clean and spacious. But as all British hotels. TOO HOT..... like a sauna, although the windows did actually open!

Check out the next day was extremely busy, my colleague was staying another night so we just asked the receptionist if we would get out ok with the pass as she had a long queue and we were in a rush for the flight. She advised curtly no and to wait in the queue? We thought we would try anyway as the man the night before had said he had done it. Surprise Surprise it didnt work and when we called through she was quite rude again and said we had to come back immediately! Nearly missed the flight!

Summary: Nice hotel, extremely convienent for the airport and I would stay again.

  • Liked — How close it is to the airport
  • Disliked — The receptionist... why choose a customer service job!? and the heat in the room!!

For an airport hotel - absolutely fantastic. You get all the perks without the costs of the Radisson over the road. The whole experience was great. Would definitely stay there again. Restaurant could have perhaps been a little posher re service etc. but with 2 boys it was great for us as a family.

  • Liked — Bedrooms were spacious and bedding clean, soft and lovely. Downstairs bar young and contemporary.
  • Disliked — Restaurant was a little too much like a cafe. Although it didn't look too bad, the service reflected that of a cafe.

This was a very comfy hotel before a long flight.

Hotel staff were friendly and it was very close to the airport, we walked over to our terminal in the morning, only took about 5/10 mins.

If I had an early morning flight from Manchester i would stay here again.

The front desk was staffed with pleasant people. My room was a dream -- comfortable bed with white-white sheets and covers. Fine facilities. Lovely nightview of the airport's main entrances. Reasonable supper in the hotel's dining room; breakfast just fine as well. Altogether wonderful!
