In the beginning I did not knew about this area of the town. I was just walking around and was surprised how many pride flags are out there. Then I saw many cabarets where the posters were showing males dressed as female artists. Few hours later I saw on the map that this district is called Gay Village. It looks good for gay people. So if you are interested in, that is the right spot

The sights you see when you haven't got a gun! This place is a walkabouts dream. What a change, the heterosexual couples stand out for a change. The area has great vibes. One bar on top of another, every other one a drag show or what passes for a drag show these days. There must be a dozen bars/restaurants from Number 1 Canal Street (see my review) to the NEW UNION HOTEL (also see my review) Lovely place to people watch. Friendly bunch, gays and trannies alike, all welcoming, laughing and generally having a good time. Lots of lady bouncers; keep it up girls, show we can also chuck our weight about!!! Never saw any problems or any police personnel. Much the same as any other city with this one exception; strangers greeted and spoke to each other like long lost mates... well done Manchester. Definitely a place to be PROUD about.
PS: The canal could seriously do with a flush out!

We took several evening walks though the area and up and down the Canal because it was close to our hotel. Yes its the Gay village but did not notice anything one doesn't see in any metropolitan city in the UK or anywhere else. Some new and upscale restaurants comfortable for all to enjoy. Yes and I did sit next to the status of Alan Turing in the park. Sit and think about his contributions to all of us.

The gay village is good fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Also surprisingly pretty in the daylight. Worth a visit if you love a cheesy nightclub.
