Had heard rave reviews about Rosso so was so looking forward to going for our Anniversary celebration......I'm not a big eater so I decided on the mushroom risotto ...unfortunately the rice had a fair few partially uncooked grains of rice.....Ok I know what you will say ..did you complain...No...the tables for two are placed so close to each other I was too embarrassed and found the waiters a little bit intimidating. ....I am use to dining in high class restaurants so do no how to handle myself but maybe I was off my game tonight.....my husband enjoyed his meal and the tiramasu lovely

I went for my birthday last week with my family and I couldn't asked for a better meal out! The food is beautifully served and cooked to your standards and the waiters are at your hands and feet! Highly recommended restaurant if you're visiting Manchester☺

This favourite with footballers due to it's links with Rio Ferdinand is a must see and dine in place in Manchester.
The food is of high quality and extremely well priced for what you get.
The bar menu is extensive and also well priced.
I went for dinner on a Sunday evening - it was busy, vibrant a great atmosphere.
The service was outstanding.

This isn't a review of the food etc. which we've always found to be very good. It is a comment on the practices that this restaurant appear to have adopted. One of our friends had booked a party of seven as part of a girlie weekend to Manchester for the Christmas markets etc.
They were asked to pay a deposit which isn't unusual these days - what was strange was the requirement to submit their menu choices at least a week in advance of their booking??
We had dinner there last Saturday (9th November) with the friend who had made the booking and, as there was a table of eight seated next to us all offered menus, decided to quiz the maître d on leaving as to why she had been asked to submit food selection in advance when this other table clearly hadn't.
His first answer was that the new policy of pre-ordering for groups had only been introduced two months ago and that the party of eight had booked six months ago - seriously!!
Having seen that wasn't registering as plausible he then proceeded to tell us that the reason was they didn't want groups of customers 'coming in and ordering garlic bread and pizza to share'.
How preposterous that they believe they have the right to decide who dines in their establishment on the basis of how much they might spend.
I'd suggest if they want to create some kind of elitist establishment they don't fill every available inch of floor space with tables so that, whether you like it or not, the chances are you are going to have a conversation with fellow diners and if they don't want customers choosing the 'cheaper' options from their menu then they don't offer them on the menu...
I would like to hope the people behind this restaurant have not set these guidelines and that they will read this and take some action to ensure these outrageous 'rules' stop immediately.

This is a lively glamorous spot, a handsome Grade II listed former bank, beautifully kitted out and adorned with photos of famous patrons, many of them footballers (Rosso is owned by Rio Ferdinand). The pretty greeter offered a warm welcome and the smart waiters provided attentive professional service. On this visit food was mixed with starters ok, fish cake mains a tad dull, and an orange and fig pudding delicious. The menu is extensive, featuring fish, meat, pasta and pizza. Prices verge on the high side with a wagyu steak topping the list at a hefty £75. The 2 course lunch menu priced at £12.95 is a steal though. To conclude, reasonable food in a very enjoyable glitzy environment and I would definitely go again.
