This hotel is located on Oxford Road where there are many theatres, cinemas, restaurants and pubs. It is just a 1-2 minute walk to Manchester Oxford Road Station, and most trains to/from Manchester Picadilly also stop at the Oxford Road stop too.
The hotel is airy and modern, we were early for check-in but the hotel stored our bags without a problem.
The rooms are smaller than other Holiday Inn Express' which I have stayed at, but the rooms have the new large shower basin and blue decor which is nice. The beds are comfortable.
We left too early for the free breakfast but the reception staff helped us by providing some cold provisions for us at 5am. This was an added bonus.
Overall this a perfect stay for anyone who wants to be in the City Cetre to explore the city.

Spotless room and friendly service. The room was spacious, especially the bathroom. The room decoration was stylish and modern.

I had booked the singel room through an internet hotel service and paid € 120 breakfast included.

The location is very nice, next to the railway station and close to the centre. Next to the hotel there is a 24h conveninece store and many other shops and pubs are in the vicinity.

Breakfast buffet included eggs, sausages, croissants, yoghurt, cereal, rolls, juices, coffees. Nothing special, but enough.

Drawbacks:
- Tuesday morning, at 7:15 the breakfast room was almost fully booked, although, admittedly, there were no lines yet. And according to hotel information, it was the quiet time.
- Air conditioning was out of order, so the room was quite hot despite the fan. The window could not be opened.
- £5 per day extra for wireless network is robbery in my opinion!

What can one expect from a chain business of short stay holiday hotels?
I suppose a kind of efficiency in servicing their clients and a basic sort of politeness.
On those scores the Holiday Inn Express on Oxford Road ticks the boxes,
The room was a bit small but it had nice decor.
The bathroom had a very good shower. Unfortunately it also had big mirrors. Not a very good experience for the over-sixties forced to view their own ageing flesh. The room was spottless and was thoroughly cleaned every day.
The Reception was, unusually, in the basement, but it was manned by quite pleasant people. Unfortunately the young lady who checked us in not only gabbled, but had an extreme Manchester accent. I understood not one word of what she said.
Although the hotel is on a major road, no noise disturbed us and its position is very central.
Modern hotels are based on profit and turnover and corners are cut where they can be. The Holiday Inn is no different in that respect. Breakfast was disapointingly ordinary. Cardboard croissants, rubbery scrambled egg, disgustingly sweet orange juice and coffee which was an utter disgrace. We, however, are used to this mediocre aspect of modern hotels. It happens throught Europe and unless we complain - strongly - the hoteliers will continue to serve up what they can get away with.
The staff were obliging and generally the hotel is that kind of annonymous sleep factory which most modern hotel businesses aspire to.
Be carefull with the room air conditioning - it has a mind of its own.
On the whole - except for the breakfast - it what one would expect and represents reasonable value for money.
Not brilliant and not bad. Given the general awfullness of 'business' hotels in the UK one would have to say that this one was very good.

Room Tip: The higher you go the better the views
