Review of Dishoom Manchester

Dishoom Manchester
Ranked #47 of 2,939 Restaurants in Manchester

Description: Dishoom pays loving homage to the Irani cafés that were once part of the fabric of life in Bombay. Opened early last century by Zoroastrian immigrants from Iran, there were almost 400 of these cafés at their peak in the 1960s. Today, fewer than 30 remain.

Another excellent lunch at Dishoom! The whole experience is just great - from the beautiful entry where staff greet you with incense through to the quirky toilets in the basement.
I’ve visited this branch of Dishoom roughly once per month since it opened last in Dec 2018 and the food has always been amazing. The main focus is Indian food with some Persian twists and everything I’ve had has been delicious - particularly noteworthy are the lamb biryani, black dhal and okra fries.
The alcohol is pretty pricey but the food is very reasonable.

A bit overrated I think. The good bits - decor, service, imaginative menu, setting etc. The food was the disappointment for me. As with most tapas style meals it all get dumped on you at once and you are trying to eat three courses of food and nine dishes between three before they start to go cold. And they went cold quickly.

We had an Italian family over from Milan so was a bit of gamble as to if they would like not , fear not Dishoom delivered spot on!.
We had various dishes but the bacon , sausage & egg naan bread was exceptional followed closely by the masala beans , service was great with all the staff being very friendly , I will be back!.

Truly great Indian food, with a distinction from other restaurants and their own style. Dishes and flavours unique to the restaurant, executed fantastically.
Have since bought the cookbook and the recipes are fantastic
