“Fab for disabled travellers but not worth 4 stars...”
Reviewed February 5, 2011

I stayed at The Park Inn as my husband and I were going to a gig at Manchester Arena. It is about 3 minutes walk away so is fantastic to stay there after a gig. The staff were friendly and polite and helped us with the disabled door as it was broken due to the wind. Our room was okay, but I would definately not class it as 4 stars. The bad points were, only 2 pillows provided, the bedspread was stained slightly, there was no divan cover on the bed, the hairdryer only blew out cold air, the city view was of a petrol station and building work, there was no satellite television as advertised and (just being picky now) there was no mini fridge. I recently stayed in some 4 star hotels so I know what Im looking for, and want from a 4 star. The menu for the restaurant seemed very pricey, but in honesty we didnt eat there so I cannot comment on whether its worth it, as I believe you do pay for quality. I should have probably rectified the problems mentioned while there but its not in my nature to complain and to be honest, I shouldn't have to. Now, the good points were that the bathroom was excellent. Normally disabled bathrooms look like an old peoples home, but this one was chic and had more than enough bars and handles etc, and a very sturdy shower chair. My husband was very pleased to have a comfortable bathroom. Also, the room was a very good size and he could get about very easily in his wheelchair. There was a fantastic air conditioning system which was very beneficial to my husband as due to his condition, he cannot regulate body heat so gets too hot very quickly. I had a fantastic nights sleep though as the bed was very comfortable and there was practically no noise whatsoever. All in all, I was disappointed as I was expecting more from the rating this hotel has, but I would definately stay again as for a quick stopover for a concert its good. But, if youre looking for a romantic weekend? Stay in a private hotel rather than a chain hotel like this one as it is somewhat clinical.

Park Inn, the name should be done on trade desciption, there is NO PARKING at the Park Inn.
You have to leave your car overnight in the NCP accross the road, adding another £10 plus to the bill.
Went out for the evening, arrived back at 10.45, the Bar was closed, and we were told to order Room Service if we wanted a drink.
So EXTRA money for that.
The Wine listed on the Room Service was NOT the wine that arrived, but a cheap plonk charged at extornate prices.
Never before have a Hotel I visted closed the Bar early and told guests to order Room Service.
Disgusted.

2 night stay while visiting Manchester, picked the Park Inn due to previous good stays at other hotels in the chain.

Room was OK size wise, if not bizarrely echo-y, good bathroom arrangement, seemingly large bed (more on this later) and a large bright window.

The bed itself, while marketed as a kingsize bed was basically two Single Divans pushed together - fair enough, no point having rooms empty if they can be re-purposed quickly, but the sheets were literally over each single mattress (not a king sheet keeping both together) and neither mattress was secured to the bed with grippers meaning every so often the mattresses would slide away from tossing and turning leaving a gap in the centre of the bed.

Queried it at the desk in a polite manner and we were waved away with a snotty reply of "all hotels are like that, you should have booked queen sized beds if you didn't want them like that" - after a fairly sleepless night I couldn't be bothered to explain more than once about the sheet arrangement being a simple solution that "all other hotels" employ.

Quick tip if you do stay though, take the short cut through the MEN arena to the train station, it'll save you a longer than it should be walk.

I would also debate the 4 stars, I've been in 2 stars with more amenities!

we stayed at the hotel over the weekend for a football trip to manchester. the hotel is quite new and clean. the rooms are not the biggest but average hotel room size i would say. the location is ok as it is right next to victoria station, so it's easy to get there from the airport. u just have to ask your way at victoria station as there are no signs or anything.
The hotel would also be great if you visit a concert at the MEN Arena which is just across the street.
All in all a great hotel for a fair price. the surrounding area is not that amazing but you can take the tram to get into the heart of Manchester.
Would stay there again.

We got a good deal, including breakfast. Just right for hitting the January sales!!
The hotel has a contemporary design throughout and everything is still new and in good condition. We enjoyed the leisure facilities, a good way to relax after a busy day with lots of walking. Breakfast had something for everyone - fruit, cereals, cold meats & cheese, bacon, sausage, eggs, beans etc. Toast, jam, pastries. Enough to keep you going well into the afternoon!! We parked the car across the road in the MEN arena for £9 for 24 hours, maybe we could have got somewhere on a street, but this way we could at least relax, not worrying about a ticket!!! A little walk into town, but not too far.

I stayed at this hotel on a shopping trip last weekend and we could not have asked for a better hotel. The location is perfect...just a few mins walk on a safe and busy road to the core shopping district and nightlife of manchester. The rooms are very modern, clean and spacious enough for 2 people. The reception staff are very helpful, informative and go out of their way to help you. Next time i am in Manchester, I will definately return to this hotel.
