Had brunch here today with three friends. Excellent food, very friendly, if slightly flaky, service (ordered large wine, got small, pot of tea arrived without teabag, but quickly resolved!). Varied, reasonably-priced menu with extensive drinks menu. Fantastic canalside location in Manchester's historic heart. Today was damp and chilly but I'd love to visit again to take advantage of the outdoor seating area. Thank you - a lovely finale to my weekend in Manchester!

Had a lovely 3 course set menu Sunday lunch for £17.95, which was great value. Smoked salmon with creme fraiche, and bilinis, followed by roast beef, yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, swede and carrot mash, french beans, red cabbage and mashed potato. The beef was pink in the middle which is just how I like it. Dessert I chose chocolate fondant, with honeycomb ice cream. The ice cream came and was actually vanilla and the fondant wasnt warm but had a lovely runny centre. The service was great and we weren't rushed at all.

I have visited this restaurant on a number of occasions so when our friends came up from up from London we couldn't think of a better place to take them. We went early on a Saturday night and were seated near the window. Whilst probably not the best table it was reasonably quiet. The food was excellent and of a high quality. The service was exceptional and the staff made us very welcome. Although it was busy it didn't deter them from making sure we were happy with our food, The only complaint I can find was there were a few children in the restaurant. Given that it was a Saturday on a sunny evening it did spoil things a little with children running around. I will definitely be returning!!

Albert’s Shed

We visited this restaurant to celebrate a family birthday. From the moment we arrived, the staff were pleasant, efficient and friendly, and showed us to a waiting area until the rest of the party arrived. Before the guest of honour arrived, we were shown to the table to await the arrival. Drinks orders were taken and, when the guest of honour arrived, a glass of sparkling wine was offered.

Despite the number at the table, the food order was taken and the various different meals arrived fairly quickly, all piping hot. The service was efficient and staff were very attentive throughout, particularly to the guest of honour. They were also very good with two young members of the party.

One small issue was the fact that there wasn’t a cash bar in the restaurant which meant that if you ordered a drink or coffee, it was added on to the food bill. Mostly this would not be a problem however, if someone else is paying, we felt it would look like we were taking advantage. However, the restaurant is linked to the bar next door, which is also very nice, and we were able to order, and pay for, our coffee there.

The restaurant, and adjoining bar, are located in a beautiful area beside a lock, with scenic walks nearby, and is defiantly worth a visit.

From the moment we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful. There were four people in our party and we all ordered different dishes, which were delicious. Lovely atmosphere and a real buzz about the place. We will certainly visit again.
