“Stylish meal”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

We came to Velvet for a meal at the weekend. I did book ahead, just as well as they were fully booked. It was so plush and very busy with lots of restaurant crowd background noise and we felt at home straight away. The menu was varied and had a couple of my favourite dishes. I went for the lamb and was not disappointed, it was soft and still pink, delicious. We shared a dessert as we were full up but the choc pot was a dream. Romantic evening with great food and lovely company.

Took a visit to the restaurant at velvet for our anniversary, and had the 2 course deal followed by cocktails in the bar.
The menu was varied and fairly extensive for the offer. Chose the sea bass and the lamb nicoise mains with velvet chocolate dessert. Food was beautifully cooked and presented and tasted fabulous, especially the lamb! The dessert was rich and satisfying but quite sickly so maybe a sharing option.
Cocktails were on offer, £5.25 until 7pm, would recommend the cherry bomb, sunbeam and of course the mojito.
The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious and the decor is opulent.
I would love to stay in the hotel and am hoping to do so in the new year.

Velvet is probably my most favourite restaurant in Manchester.

The early meal deal is a fantastic price. Where can you get 2 courses for £17.95 including rib eyed steak.

Whenever I'm in Manchester I eat here the food is always top class, the staff are really friendly and helpful and Its just great value in great surroundings. I just cannot ever find fault with it

Anyone coming to Manchester should check out velvet you won't be disappointed

We were lucky to get a last minute cancellation at Velvet as everywhere was booked up due to the Conservative Party conference. On arrival we received a very warm and friendly welcome. The welcome tray with fresh milk and biscuits was a lovely touch. We stayed in a penthouse room which was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, comfortable and very quiet. Velvet is ideally placed for all city centre attractions. If you want to stay somewhere different that does not have the tired feel of a corporate hotel then Velvet is definitely the place.

We stayed here on 13th October booking into room 32 which was great. Comfortable cosy room, very individual and well away from the corporate looking rooms now in so many hotels

I couldn't fault are stay here. Staff are very attentive, quality with small touches such as fresh milk and welcome tray. Rooms are excellent comfort and cleanliness.

Had a great night in the bar on return last night. Beautiful breakfast in the resteraunt - again staff service and attention second to none.

Whilst the rooms were lovely and clean I think this hotel could put people off with the style choice, having faces looking at you on the walls whilst you sleep was a bit odd.. Found my room (11) noisy from the corridor and above, scrapping of chairs and people walking around above me woke me up, noise from the street also work me up. Breakfast was not included in the stay and we found that this made the price very expensive, with most hotels offering breakfast included with a stay we were disappointed and as a result will probably stay in a different hotel on our next visit.

Although this place feels its a bit out of the way, its actually very close to the centre of things. The decor is very dark and chintzy, with lots of blacks and deep purples, but the rooms are very well apointed and luxurious. The service was very attentive as well, with a tray of tea with real milk being brought to our room on arrival. Great value as well, perhaps a reflection of its position as being slightly out of the centre
