We stayed on the 27th Jan as part of a christmas present and it was perfect! We were upgraded to a suite (thank you very much the Velvet team :D) which was amazing! I will be booking it again in the future and definitely recommending it. Lovely huge bathroom, nice dining/lounge area , an amazingly comfy bed. The bedroom has an en-suite and a large dressing table. Lovely little touches like the fruit, ice and turn-down made the stay fab.
We had a quick dinner in the restaurant which was lovely. The staff are really helpful and the food was very good too. The menu was varied and really good value for money. Cocktails were amazing though! We had a few drinks later in the night in the bar which was also great. Décor was lovely and the staff were also really helpful and friendly.
Location is great, could easily walk around the centre.
All in all. Amazing stay. No faults. We had an amazing night. We will definitely be back (SOON :D).

Stayed here one night with girlfriend for her birthday.

Although slightly pricey, it was worth it for that perfect night getaway. It was only a two minute walk from the train station, and a five minute walk to the city centre. We got to the reception, our room wasn't ready for another half an hour, so they offered to keep our bags and take them to the room so they'd be ready for us when we got back (a nice gesture!) When we went back to the hotel we were greeted by the nice man who served us before, he gave us the tour of the way to the room, showing us how to use the lift and room facilities. He then said he would return with the welcoming biscuits and fresh milk for tea or coffee. We didn't catch this man's name but would like to compliment him for his excellent customer service.

We were in room 35 (we think) which was a lovely four poster bed with nice clean linen! We thought it was a quirky personal touch that they put us in this room, as they had previously asked where we were from - Wales, we found it amusing that there was a life size sheep ornament on the balcony!

We have read about the noise complaints on trip advisor and have to say this did not affect our stay at all. Yes, it is a busy area and there were noises from outside and considering that it was a friday night - it really wasn't that bad!! Me and my partner had a fantastic nights sleep, and the bed was so comfy!

Be warned though, it advertises refreshments in the room, these are charged and expensive....but teas and coffees are free! We would also like to comment on excellent staff, very helpful, especially when ordering taxis etc.

Overall, enjoyed the stay! Will stay again next time in Manchester.

My wife and I have just spent wonderful night at the Velvet , the room was of a very high standard with some lovely personal touches. The staff where really friendly and made us feel very welcome. We had breakfast which was hearty and very tasty. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something extra special. This is the best hotel we have stayed in, in Manchester.

Stayed here with my boyfriend for my birthday, the staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly, and the room was gorgeous! Absolutely zero complaints! We also had cocktails in the bar in the evening which were delicious.

Definitely 5/5!

Absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms are spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. We received excellent service from the front desk, the restaurant and the bar.
The breakfast was beautifully cooked with quality ingredients.
We spent our first night in the cocktail bar which had a lovely atmosphere, good music and fantastic cocktails.
We loved Canel Street and found it to be friendly and trouble free.
The Arndale Centre is a 10-15 minute walk. The train station is less than a 5 minute walk away.
Definitely would recommend this hotel for a stylish weekend away.

We stayed two nights in Manchester and prefer boutique hotels rather than worldwide chain hotels. We weren't disappointed. The hotel is small but our room was realtively very spacious and interestingly decorated. The room and bathroom were very clean and I felt very "at home". The bed was super comfortable, the shower good and nice quality shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. We loved the complimentary "cuppa" on arrival. The hotel is a very comfortable walking distance from town ... and the sales were on. Need I say more?

Wow Velvet Hotel did not let me down in any way at all. It was pure heaven. Stayed in room 16, it's fab!! The bed is HUGE, you'd literally forget you were sharing the bed!! The chandeliers in the room, the brink walls, the fab curtains, the bed linen, the AMAZING pillows and mattress....fantastic! They turn down your sheets in the evening and when you come back there's chocs on the bed, fresh ice and fruit in the fridge! You get a welcome tray with biscuits, ice, fruit, fresh milk and top ups when ever you want, there's a sweet jar in the room...could go on and on!! Location excellent. Great bars on the street with hilarious drag shows! Worth a visit!! And finally the staff were sooooo nice!! And sorry, the brekkie...Delish!!! Cannot wait to return!!! Hopefully there's a deal soon as it is a lil pricey!!! Enjoy!!!!!!
