Description: Room is a modern, unique restaurant and cocktail bar located on King Street in the centre of Manchester's commercial and shopping district. An eclectic mix of antique and retro makes this a stunning place to enjoy a private dining experience and we also offer cocktails until late. Our award winning restaurant can cater for up to 120 diners, whilst our bar can cater for up to 80. Room is absolutely perfect for a business lunch, a shopper's retreat or simply somewhere to drop in for a coffee. By night, the restaurant comes alive with the kind of brasserie atmosphere that you would expect within any cosmopolitan city and Room in Manchester is no exception. Enjoy dinner for two in a quiet corner or take a window seat and enjoy your Room with a view.

Four of us popped into the bar last Saturday for a drink before dinner. I'd never been to Room before. The bar area was nice and airy, and it was lovely. We had to find stools and there was nowhere to put our coats, but the atmosphere was very pleasant. Nevertheless, we'll go again and try lunch/dinner sometime.

We went at Christmas. There were 5 of us. The restaurant is right next to the bar, where they were playing really loud music, which interfered with our conversation. I don't know if this was just like this at Christmas or whether its like this all the time. Also, when booking I enquirer as to whether we had to have the Christmas menu or whether we could have a la carte. They said we could choose on the evening. However, when we came to order the waitress said we all had to have the same, which wasn't ideal as some of us didn't like the Christmas menu.

Booked the restaurant after reading such great reviews on this site. Arrived for our table promptly at 7.30 pm on Saturday evening booked in downstairs . Went to up to the bar intending to have a drink before dinner. Bar was packed to capacity and playing loud Music. They have a DJ on Friday and Saturday which wasn't indicated on their site. After waiting some time before being seated we did manage to secure a table as far away from the bar as possible . The host asked if we'd like water . And that's as far as we got 20 mins later she came back to apologise and said our waitress would be with us soon as they'd had a mix up over a large party booking !We chose to leave at that point. No water ever materialised either ! I'm sure the food is delicious but being slightly older than the majority of people crammed in the bar area.. I'm not sure Room is for me. Ps. On leaving the attendant tried to give me the wrong coat despite a playing cased ticketing system .

A friend suggested we went to Room for lunch, as they had a set menu for just £14.00 so we thought worth a try, esp as it inc a glass of wine!! So total price for two, two course lunches was £30.80 (£2.80 service charge) We enjoyed One pate and one beetroot Salad, followed by Hake and Pork Belly all very enjoyable, looking forward to going back again soon.

Very impressive room with dim red atmospheric lighting. Good personable service on a quiet Wednesday night. We had pâté and scallops to start too much pâté only 3 scallops !
Then pork in hay which was excellent and a huge steak ( I had to finish off my wife's steak). Could not manage afters. Large menu and wine list. Would definitely go again reminded us of Malmaison before it was redone as Smoak, similar decor and not dissimilar meat based menu although several fish dishes at Room. Well worth a visit although with wine came to £100 for two so quite expensive for two courses (should have drunk less)
