Have stayed here regularly over the past couple of years.
Ideal situation not far from the station and close to a couple of good pubs and restaurants.
Welcome hamper not provided.
Walls painted but lots of scratches, internet not working properly, bath dirty, sink plug missing and a number of other small incidentals.
Check in slow and billing inaccurate.
Car parking dangerous, not much space to manouver
Cleaning very poor, it was as though they were in a rush.
Lift got stuck, not ideal

Stayed one night in a 2 bedroom apartment.
Good points:
- Great location, especially for main shopping area and an easy walk from Manchester Piccadilly station or you can use the excellent public transport options.
- Arrived prior to the 3pm check in but they have a locked room for bags. Reception staff were friendly and gave me a useful town centre map.
- The apartment lounge/diner area was a reasonable size overall with room for a table & 4 chairs, a large sofa and armchair with a large balcony off it. Room also got all day sun (it was lovely weather for a change!).
- The separate kitchen was clean, spacious and adequately equipped including milk, juice & bread in the fridge.
- The bed was very comfortable, probably one of the best hotel ones I have slept in, with a excellent duvet.
- Wall mounted flat screen TV's in both bedrooms as well as the lounge
- The bathroom was clean and the towels lovely and fluffy. Shower pressure pretty good (for the UK).
- Being on the 10th floor it was super quiet.

Down points:
- The bedrooms are quite small and have no wardrobes or chest of drawers for storing clothes so if you were staying for a longer time period, as you might well do in an apartment, this could be a real pain.
- The windows were very dirty. Perhaps understandable in the bedrooms where external access would be more difficult but completely unacceptable for the sliding doors onto the balcony which were filthy and with the sun coming in looked really offputting.
- The lounge felt a bit less clean than other areas and could do with a good hoover under the furniture not just around it
- The digital signal to the TV in the lounge was not working properly and kept cutting out on several channels. I didn't complain as I only noticed at 8pm and couldn't be bothered with the hassle so just went to bed early and watched TV from bed.
- The hairdryer was missing so I had to ask for one in the morning and wait for it. Housekeeping promptly brought up a rather titchy travel one which was adequate but then I don't have long thick hair.
- Both the iron and ironing board had seen better days and need replacing, (steam function wasn't even working on the iron).
- The lounge sofa was not terribly comfy and looked a bit tired as did the console table in the hallway.
- The bedrooms only have vertical blinds not proper curtains and so let in a bit of light at the edges, so if you like your room dark take a eye mask.

In essence the apartment was looking a little bit bashed about from constant use and could do with some upgrading & redecorating but everything was functional and clean enough apart from the windows. Couldn't quite call it 4* level though.

I got a superb deal on Last Minute so can't complain on value. Would stay again if I got a good deal but would not pay full price.

Room Tip: I suspect the higher up you go the better for noise and sun/views.

Poor hotel with poor servie and rude staff, car parking unreliable and not advertised, welcome hamper did not arrive simply 1 box of cornflakes in fridge? Payed a lot of money for a short nights stay and to be honest wish I had of got somewhere cheaper. This is not a 4/5* hotel. Rooms are not that clean and servie is poor for the status and cost. Phones in rooms dont work either. wouldnt recomend for the money.

I stayed at The Light for a couple of nights on a business trip. I have stayed at numerous apartments around the UK and this is the worst I have ever stayed at. Don't bother to book carparking at this hotel, as the staff can never be bothered to open the gates for you. I had many meetings to attend while staying there and had to give myself an additional 30mins travelling time, due to the fact thats how long it would take me to get out of the hotel. You have to go down to the reception to ask the staff to open the gates for you and when you get to the gates in your car you can be waiting for a very long time for the gates to open. If it even does. Then you have to park your car back up, go through numerous doors, up the lift, through numerous more doors back to the reception to then ask them why they haven't opened the gates for you. No apology is given. You are just merely told that they will remember to open it this time!!. Then you travel back down to your car and still have to wait with your car running on a hill a good 10 minutes for the gates to open. That is nothing though, compared to getting back in the hotel carpark. To get back in you have to telephone the reception and ask them to open the gates, then wait in a side street with your fingers crossed that this time they can be bothered to open the gates for you. Nearly every single time I had to leave my car on double yellow lines and walk back round to the reception to ask "Why they still haven't opened the gates?". I found it to be absolutely diabolical customer service and will never be staying there again!!.

I was dissappointed reading your reveiw, in relation to the car parking element of your stay.
The new management team and new team members are striving to put all past issues to rest.
As such we are in the process of sourcing and installing a new car parking system with remote access, to then eleviate any issues.
i would like to welcome you back once this is in place to enjoy all our facilities.

Many Thanks

Kim

I stayed at The Light for one night and the facilities were really good. A nice stylish place to go and relax. I stayed on the 14th floor and it was so relaxing looking out over Manchester in the evening and early in the morning. Definitely love to go again!!
