“Diappointing”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

I've been a Manchester resident for over 10 years, yet had never visited here. My opportunity came, when some work colleagues were staying at the nearby Premier Inn.

It was a Wednesday night and the restaurant was busy (good sign). We had a pleasant welcome and were shown to our table.

The menu was huge... Far too many things on there. If I'm honest, I got bored reading.

To start, I went for the bread and olives, followed by chicken and spinach cannelloni.

The bread was poor. Stale and uninspiring and sprinkled with some parsley. The olives were fine.

Our main course was served quickly. Although, it was tasty, I didn't think there was enough filling in the pasta. I was left with a plate full of sauce.

We didn't have any desserts and the bill was £25 each, including drinks. For midweek in Manchester, this is on the expensive side.

“Very good Italian food.”
Reviewed November 2, 2013

Pre-theatre but chose from the a-la-carte menu. Excellent food prepared quickly and served well. Waiters a little over fussy, trying to pour wine all the time when our glasses were still filled adequately especially for white wine. Would not hesitate to return, lovely surroundings and very good food. Very busy pre-theatre and a little rushed but still acceptable. Obviously, if you are not attending a performance, then, book a little later in the evening. Bravo.

“Evening meal”
Reviewed October 29, 2013 via mobile

Before going to a concert we called for dinner. We got there at 5.30ish we were given a table straight away and all the way through the meal every time we stopped eating to chat we were asked if we had finished!!!
We stuck to the set meal which was fine and delivered quickly. If you are in a hurry this is fine (we were not)
Beware they add a 10% service charge.

“Simple Italian food, huge portions!”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

Colleagues had recommended Gio's for good, simple Italian food and they weren't wrong.

An extensive menu, everything from simple pizzas and pastas to a multitude of chicken, veal, beef and fish dishes.

I started with white wine, garlic and chilli prawns on a crostini that soaked up the garlic butter, followed by a whole sea bass on a bed of seasonal veg. The obligatory zucchini frites were crisp, light and flavoursome as was the spinach.

The portions were pretty big and the food well cooked and presented.

For a reasonably price mid-week meal, Gio's was great.
