Pretty much get what you pay for. Bed and roof over your head for the night but that's about it.
Room very dated, needed new carpet and lick of paint. Noisy plumbing inside room from when you flushed the toilet. Not good after a long travel.
One redeeming feature the food in the evening was lovely, but let down with breakfast in the morning.

I've been going to Luther King House over the last 3 years or so. it is my like my home in Manchester! It is in a peaceful location, excellent for reflection or just chilling out. It has really pleasant grounds, car parking facilities and easy access to public transport to any part of Manchester. Very near by there is a huge park to take walks in and very many Indian/Asian types of restaurants within 5 minutes walk. You can also get very decent meals at Luther King at breakfast, lunch or dinner. The bar is open until late. There is a large pleasant lounge to sit in - or you can do so in the garden. There is also free and easy access to the intranet. Bedrooms are basic (many have single beds, unless you ask for a double) but are clean with extras lovelingly provided. The staff seem to work there for life! and I have found them very attentive indeed. Meals and accommodation are very reasonably priced - and for me the whole ambience of the place is very special. Reminds me of how things were before big hotel chains came about...

The walls are so thin at this hotel that you can hear what the person next door is saying. The doors below sound like they are being slammed shut. It's just not good for a peaceful stay. This doesn't seem to be a problem for other people but if you want a quiet night's sleep, I would look elsewhere. The rooms are clean and tidy and in good condition. The hotel is a Christian based learning centre and so there is no alcohol bar and bad behaviour would be frowned upon.

My partner and I were looking for somewhere cheap to "get our head down" for one night as we were seeing Muse at the Etihad Stadium.

A search for hotels was proving a potentially expensive exercise until I spotted this place.

We figured as we were just stopping, we were not really too fussy about the room and facilities/looks etc - until we arrived at Manchester. The drive to the hotel took us through some less than salubrious areas, and expectations were low. However, when we arrived where the sat nav suggested was our destination we were pleasantly surprised.

The building is charming, and is generally well maintained - bearing in mind it's more than just a guest house/hotel.

The receptionist was very friendly, very helpful and checked us in using a simple card/index system. Free WiFi codes provided and we headed to our room.

We walked through the charming little courtyard, past the library and up to the room.

There is a slight aroma of fustiness and cheap cleaning product up the stairs - which you take take one of two ways. It was tired, yes, but generally clean. It would be impossible to get this building to the standard of the new monolithic pop-up hotels without a complete (and expensive) refurbishment.

The room was basic, but had a vanity unit and (much to my partner's relief) we had our own shower and toilet. Again, both basic, but functional.

Given what we'd paid for the room, and the location and proximity to Manchester City Centre (a short bus journey away, with bus stops at the end of the road), we were pleasantly surprised.

Parking can be a bit tight - as we found out, but it's a nice little site.

room very basic but clean. Tranquil surroundings and relaxed atmosphere in courtyard. Restaurant very good value, the continental style breakfast was good.Free wi-fi. Good parking and handy for bus into city centre. Is a "working" college so mix of people in lounge and restaurant. if you are Christians there is a chapel on site with a lively service on Sundays (evangelical charismatic).

Stayed here for 1 night when we were in Manchester to see a show. £50 a night for bed and breakfast for 2 seemed like a good deal......IT WASN'T!!! Rip-off, actually. The place is run-down, and dirty in places......thankfully not the bed. Mouldy shower, peeling paintwork, shabby wardrobes, cold water that ran hot, run-down gardens, inattentive staff and confusing breakfast. Frozen bread for toasting, porridge which had seen better days. Only other hot items, poached eggs.....nothing else. On the upside, the croissants, cheese and cold meat were a welcome addition. Will never be back

Room Tip: Only tip would be to AVOID at all costs
