“Bargain sushi”
Reviewed December 23, 2013

We went here for a quick and cheap meal before a gig and we weren't disappointed. My boyfriend and I both went for the set menu that included either a noodle/rice/soup dish and 3 grey plates. The portions were huge and the sushi was good. We were suitably impressed and the meal came to less that £25 which was a bargain! Would highly recommend it fir people who are looking for a tasty cheap eat.

“Excellent Lunch Venue”
Reviewed December 17, 2013

We had one of the set menus where you get a noodle or rice dish and three 'grey' dishes from the belt. Everything was well prepared and tasty, the staff were friendly and the service was excellent. We thought we would try the dessert room when we had finished. The menu there is quite extensive with Japanese and Chinese style desserts - we tried the snow ice (black sesame) and the waffles with Green Tea Ice Cream - both extremely nice and well presented.
The total cost of about £30 including a drink with the meal was excellent value for money.

“love the food track”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

I love the ability to pick your plates from the revolving food track. The price for the meal deals was very reasonable (we had the 10 grey dishes plus a noodle dish). It was Japanese tapas, with us able to choose lots of dishes between us. I left feeling stuffed. Great value. Get in early as it's very popular.

“brilliant fresh sushi of the belt and good price. What more can you ask for.”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

Located in town – the china town district, parallel to Portland street Manchester. Whenever I am in the Manchester area i always nip into this place. In brief, it is a small owned unique restaurant doing sushi off the belt. one end of the belt you can see the chefs making the sushi. It is slightly like yo sushi but only slight as it is not commercialised. I find this place much much cheaper and better. The price is good you can buy a combo which includes a main course curry/noodles/etc of the menu plus a certain number of sushi plates of the belt for a certain price. Combo meals are very good value.

Alternatively if you are fortunate enough to come mon-fri between the times of midday 12-3pm? you get an offer £1 per sushi plate of the belt. which is amazing value. We found that seven plates were enough to fill us up with sushi.

The atmosphere is nice. A bit cold if you are seated towards the door as people come in and out but it is also a reflection of a great thriving establishment that they have customers coming in and out.

If I can find a critique for this restaurant is that they should place the butterfried king prawn sushi back on the promotion lunchtime menu to attract Monday to Friday workers to eat their lunch there with colleagues. Also some sushi are really small whereas some on plates are really big. Its not really fair as each plate is priced the same. And you should do discounts for students as Manchester has three universities and that would be a good sales strategy (yo sushi has student discounts on certain days) But all in all great place and it is just me knitpicking.

If you are a sushi fan and in the Manchester area and love a good bargain – definitely go here and you will not be disappointed. Also the soft shell crab appetisers on the ala carte menu are amazing.

highly recommend and worth a visit.

“Poor”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

Had a takeout from here. Took a while to be ready and once got it home the look of it was less than appealing. The smallest Maki rolls I've ever seen with hardly any filling and falling apart. We requested that the tuna be made spicy and they said it wasn't possible (?) then came over to us and said they could make it spicy but there would be a 50 pence charge - reluctantly we agreed. Got it home and there is just a tiny pot of spice in with the food - they hadn't bothered to make a spicy mayonnaise for the tuna or put any spice on the food at all. 50p for a few pinches of DIY spice! Which wasn't anywhere near what we were actually expecting when requesting spicy. It's very sad that people think they are eating great sushi when they eat here - it isn't!
