We recently stayed at this charming Inn with some friends for some 'chill out' time and were not at all disappointed. The Inn has lots of character and is very well located to explore the Cotswolds. The food was excellent and great value in comparison to some of the local restaurants.
We stayed in room 6 - the bed was HUGE and very comfortable - no complaints there and the room was very nice. If we were being ultra critical, the en-suite left a bit to be desired and was a bit tired decor wise with the shower door being difficult to operate and the shower not that powerful. I'm still trying to figure our why the en-suit door had been cut in half but hey, DIY is not everyone's forte! Unfortunately, room six window is right above the main patio area behind the bar so if you have had a long day and are thinking about an early night, forget it! That said, after last orders, and some idle chit chat, the loud chatter died away to a few burst of laughter and then it went quiet. As stated, that is being very critical because, after all, it's a Pub not a hotel and it was a Saturday night. Staff were friendly, very helpful and attentive. All in all, we would definitely recommend this establishment and would certainly return ourselves again.

Room Tip: Room 6, whilst nice, does sit right above the main outside seating area so if you want to listen int...

We stayed here last weekend and it was a really great base. The hotel itself comprises of seven room, located above a very quaint bar/restaurant which was clearly popular with locals. Well appointed rooms with tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer (important for us girls!) and compact but good shower. Very friendly staff, great breakfast and a good location if you want to see the Cotswolds by car or foot.
We walked to Broadway Tower (4miles approx) and then on to Broadway (25 mins downhill) but got a taxi back (uphill!). Chipping Campden itself is a small village with a few shops and plenty of bars and restaurants to keep you entertained by night.

I first stumbled across this inn many years ago but could never find a good enough reason to stay here - well now I have. I haven't even left yet but it has exceeded my expectations to such an extent that I couldn't wait to write a review. Within minutes of arriving, our room was upgraded at no extra cost. The pub was exceptionally busy but we were looked after every step of the way - nothing was too much trouble for the lovely friendly staff. Yes it was all a little pricey but you get what you pay for! Food was amazing, room was comfortable with little touches that you notice when you're away from home frequently (eg extra pillows and blankets in wardrobe) we will definitely be returning....

I recently stayed one week at this lovely old inn. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The accommodation is cosy, clean and warm. The food is very good indeed and definitely more upscale, in fact in another league to usual pub food. The atmosphere is welcoming, and having been busy with two big events - Mothers' Day and the week long Cheltenham race festival- it is obvious that Eight Bells is a return favourite for many guests and visitors. It's a charming inn in a beautiful Cotswolds village. Very relaxing for a couple of nights or a longer holiday.

The pub itself is quite charming - as is the whole of Chipping Campden.

The food and service however leave much to be desired. While the menu reads well and describes the food in tempting, mouthwatering adjectives, it is merely overpriced, ordinary, bland pub fare. As a pub, it's about the best of the (poor) bunch in Chipping Campden and its inviting exterior draws the majority of visitors to CC inside. I'd stop here for a drink and perhaps a bag of crisps - and then hot-foot it a mile and a half down the road to the rather fabulous Ebrington Arms.

Breakfast was great and the pub was nice. Staff were friendly.
Room and shower were very small and very basic.
Free wifi was available which is great, especially as I did not get any phone reception there.

Bar area fantastic and rustic as it should be in this part of the country.Staff friendly, and as we were staying i thought the owner would have said hello but no, not even introduced. The room itself ( at £120) was fine but nothing spectacular, the shower is completely inadequate, you will have trouble getting wet !. We also found the bed a bit too low ( room 5).The food was good although i think overpriced. Breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: If you like an invigorating shower avoid room 5
