We stayed at the Noel Arms on a hot Thursday evening in July. Our room (room 23) as booked was described as "This spacious, traditional room is on the first floor of the original 17th Century building with views of the courtyard." The room was adequate but not spacious, the furnishings were drab and dated rather than traditional and the courtyard view was of the courtyard car park with a car parked immediately outside the room almost entirely blocking what view there was. However, the room was clean, comfortable and the service provided by the hotel staff was very good.

We dined in the hotel restaurant that evening enjoying delicious meals with excellent service. Breakfast in the morning was also excellent.

Chipping Campden is a charming village and the Noel Arms is ideally located to enjoy the village. However, as the room description was exaggerated, for the price we didn't feel that the hotel was a good value.

We ate here while checking out this wonderful part of the countryside (did not stay at the hotel). The restaurant was very empty this lunch time in early June. The table was not all that clean when we sat down. The two young staff members were far two busy discussing personal matters to bother seeing to us, even when it came to paying they were otherwise engaged. The food however was very nice. The dining areas were quite interesting with a sunroom and outdoor area and our table which was close to the bar.

The restaurant was not too busy so we had a table in the conservatory.
We had some bread that was not home made, more than 15 min after ordering it (£3) and nothing special to it nor the olives and the butter.
We had the curry that is supposed to be very good. It was descent but not an award winning curry.
Naan bread would have been better than poppodums though. Nice relish and pickles, but was it homemade ?
Then we had the crumble, using not seasonal fruits, topping soaked by the melting ice cream. The chocolate fondant was nice, the ice cream as well, was it home made ?
The bit I hated was when we had the bill, £6 gratuity was added without asking. I always tip but I don't appreciate being told what I should tip.
Although I was told this could be removed when I asked what this was, I did feel uncomfortable and dinners should not being put in this position.

We have eaten here on several occaisions and have always enjoyed the food, the service and the surroundings. The staff are young, extremely helpful and very polite at all times. They always have a ready smile for each and every customer.

My partner and myself recently spent an extremely pleasant night at the Noel Arms. The room although not huge was very comfortable. We were there at the height of the "heat wave" and a portable AC machine was in the room. As we were only there for the night we chose to eat in the restaurant and the meal was very good as was breakfast the following morning.
Everything about our stay was very good but what really set the hotel apart was the service, all the staff we encountered were courteous, friendly and exceptionally helpful without being pushy. We would certainly stay there again. I notice that some other reviews have found problems with the position of their room we were in 19 which was tucked away right at the back and consequently quiet (if a bit of a trek)

We styayed here on Sunday 21st July which was one of the cooler days. Our initial thoughts of the hotel were very good, excellent location, Dinner and Beakfast was very good and the staff were helpful.
Our issue was with the room, it was very hot and to add to that you had to keep the curtains drawn or people in the courtyard below and rooms on the higher floor opposite could see into the room. I suggest frosted panes of glass or similar.
We could not sleep as the room was so unbearably hot, we called reception several times to enquire if we could have a fan but to no avail. I walked to reception at 1am and in fairness the gentleman moved us to Room 2.
The room was still hot but not as hot as Room 8 on the opposite side of the hotel. There was a giant fan in the room but it was like sleeping next to a Jet Engine. Suffice to say we had a terrible nights sleep.
When we checked out we were not asked how our stay was?? They probably knew it was not a good one.
We would not stay at this hotel again.
